UPDATE: 30/05/24 - seems like Lexi's has updated their menu to reflect my comments - bravo! I had them again today and not only was the price lower, the burger was even better too. Splendid! I will be back!!
(below the line is what I wrote in my original review)
Please note: this review focuses on the takeaway burger meals. I have no experience with the rest of the menu or the dine-in experience. I have visited Lexi's twice now for my Friday takeaway lunch tradition, and this is the feedback I have.
Service: The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food is made and served very quickly, even at the lunch rush.
Atmosphere: It's a tidy, clean little place and it's clearly had a lot of time and money spent on it, given how drastically different it looks from Café Peregrine (the previous business here).
The food: Again, I am reviewing two of the takeaway burger experiences only.
Tango Chicken Burger meal - Honestly, not a bad burger at all. I was quite happy overall with it, especially for the price. If you want (or need) to skip the MGirl queue and wait time, you may very well be happy with Tango burger. The chips are great too, crunchy and salty. I give it an 7.5/10.
Southern Fried Fiesta Burger meal - Here is where I felt obligated to leave a constructive review;
Firstly, the burger uses a chicken schnitzel rather than a southern fried chicken fillet - which is fine! I like schnitzel, but I believe it's important to advertise correctly.
Secondly, the menu says there's coleslaw on the burger, which there wasn't. At least, not on mine. However, I did get a lot of red onion and cubed mystery ingredient that might have been beetroot. Neither of those things are listed on the menu, so that may be something to review too.
Overall, it was palatable, but it certainly wasn't the item it advertised itself as. I give the Southern Fried Fiesta a 4.5/10. It's a confused menu item.
Conclusion: I see real potential in Lexi's, and it takes some serious conviction (hopefully not arrogance) to open up shop right next to 2 giants in the Bella Vista restaurant scene. I would be very happy for Lexi's to give them a run for their money.
The fact of the matter is that a LOT of business done in this business park will be takeaway, and burgers/sandwiches are a big staple in takeaway. A certain cafe next door has a monopoly on Asian/Vietnamese cuisine for Lexington Drive, and I believe this leaves the door wide open for Lexi's to crack down on their burgers, so to speak.
But, I'm just a guy who works in the area, and this is my opinion. I hope this feedback is helpful and that I can review my rating soon. This turned out much longer than I...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience at Lexi’s café and unfortunately cannot recommend it.
We arrived on time for our 12:15pm booking for a group of five - made in advance - but were told to wait despite several empty tables visible. It was clear the café was overbooked and unprepared for the volume of customers. We weren’t seated until 12:45pm, and even then, our table hadn’t been set.
From there, the service only got worse. We had to ask for menus (we were only given two for five people), water, and cutlery. No one approached us to take our order, we had to flag someone down ourselves. Once we finally placed our order, the meals arrived at staggered times, so some of us had finished eating before others even received their food. Both meals that included poached eggs arrived with eggs that were hard-boiled instead.
To top it off, one of our drinks never arrived. We asked four separate times, and when it finally did come (after we had finished eating), it was the wrong drink. We told them not to bother at that point.
No staff came to check on us at any point, neither during the meal nor afterward to offer coffee or dessert (not that we would have bothered, given the long wait times, it probably would’ve taken another hour). It was clear there was no effort to provide basic customer service, let alone a pleasant dining experience.
If a venue can’t handle a full house, it simply should not overbook. Running at capacity without the staff or systems to manage it only leads to poor experiences for customers. It felt like the staff either weren’t trained properly or simply didn’t care.
This was meant to be a relaxed outing, but instead it was frustrating and disorganised from start to finish. Sadly, we won’t...
Read moreI’m sure any other day it would be nice food good and service, however they let themselves down for Mothers Day brunch due to lack of staff. 1/2 hour wait to be seated even with booking. 1 and 1/2 hours waiting to get coffee in takeaway cup, no stirrers or spoon available to stir ,after showing frustration and had to go and ask for sugar. Ran out of dinner plates so served smaller meals on bread and butter plates. All meals were missing ingredients and definitely smaller servings than meals served to other customers earlier whilst we watched. Meals given first to customers who ordered after us which didn’t help our frustration. Absolute disaster! Ruined mums day for most women there who all left angry and having not enjoyed their meal. I’m sure the staff were glad for the disaster to be over , they did try hard. We asked for a 50% refund as we only received small portions and they graciously refunded. I did feel for them. Hope you take the learnings to come back from this , at least a team of 10 including 2 baristas, a dishwasher and serving staff. We won’t be retuning. 0 stars from our family ...
