I had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The food itself was quite good overall, but the long wait (about an hour) and a couple of service issues made it less enjoyable. The ramen was enjoyable in many ways. The pork and chicken were tender and flavourful, and the soft-boiled egg was cooked perfectly. The broth was well-balanced (nicely seasoned without being too salty). However, I found the noodles themselves lacked flavour, even though they had a good springy texture. Only two staff members were working during my visit, handling everything from cooking to cleaning and seating guests. They were clearly working hard, but it meant the service was slow. I ended up waiting around an hour for my meal, and personally I felt that the dining experience wasn’t quite worth such a long wait. The staff was polite and doing their best, but they were obviously stretched thin because there were so few people working. I had asked the waitress for no coriander in my ramen, and she acknowledged the request. Unfortunately, the dish still arrived with coriander sprinkled on top, likely due to the rush and oversight in the busy kitchen. Since I didn’t want to wait any longer for a correction, I simply removed the coriander myself and continued with my meal. Despite the long wait and the mix-up with my order, I still think this restaurant could be worth trying, depending on your expectations. The food quality was good enough that I might return when I have more time or if I visit during a less busy period. If you’re patient and go in understanding that service might be slow at peak times, you can still enjoy a tasty meal here.

I was surprised to find Manpuku in Neutral Bay, thinking it was only in Chatswood! While wandering the neighbourhood, I spotted the familiar logo and decided to stop in for dinner. The staff were incredibly friendly, making me feel welcome right away. The ramen was as amazing as ever—rich, tasty broth and perfectly cooked noodles that made my tummy so happy. This restaurant is a collaboration with the original Manpuku, so the flavour profile might be slightly different, but the taste is just as delicious—if not even better—than the Chatswood location. Kudos to the chef for such a great job! Though the space is small, it’s full of personality and warmth, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Manpuku Neutral Bay is a gem that delivers on flavour, service, and charm!

This spot stands out as a genuinely authentic Japanese ramen shop, unlike many so-called "Japanese restaurants" in Sydney. The team here is committed to delivering a real deal dining experience, with a lot of thought going into every detail. The ramen broth is outstanding, striking the perfect balance of richness, saltiness, thickness, and umami. It’s clear they know what they’re doing. Portion sizes are generous and provide great value for money. You definitely get what you pay for. However, the place is a bit cramped. On busy nights, expect a long wait. Despite this, the high quality and authenticity of the ramen make it worth the visit.

Stumbled upon this place while waiting for the (wonderful) shoe repairer next door. Winning on both fronts. Decided to go in for a ramen while shoe man did his magic. I love the unpretentious but beautiful decor that tells you this place is all about the food and not some theme. And the food, OMG - umami flavours in the stock for the pork ramen to die for with nourishing mushroomy undertones. Also chef rustled up a gluten free delight for my coeliac companion. Just beautiful, simple but complex and satisfying with perfect noodles and imaginative, playful presentation that shows these people really have their heart in it. We'll be back with friends who have...
