Came here last night for the first time with my work colleagues for dinner. The food was great. I got the spaghetti marinara for myself, and my colleagues enjoyed the pizzas. Garlic bread was a little cold but not the end of the world since it wasn’t soggy. The fried battered seafood entree could’ve done with some more seasoning but otherwise tasted great with the sauce provided. I’d definitely order it again.
The place could definitely do with some sprucing up (e.g., stacks of pizza boxes in plain view towards the mid-back where we were seated) but the atmosphere feels good when the restaurant becomes packed with patrons. If the restaurant is quiet then it feels a little sterile and cold. But I do really like the vibe of the restaurant and would return.
Service was really good too. Kudos to the staff for their great customer service. The food did take a bit long to arrive but to be fair our table of 10 did order a decent amount of food, so that’s not something that bothers me.
Also, I’m obsessed with the little robot that delivers food to the tables. It’s so weirdly cute. I’ve never seen one before so I think it’s definitely a great little innovative piece of technology to help the wait staff out when there’re several servings of food needing to be delivered to a table.
The restaurant is pretty far for me (took about 40 minutes to get there as I live in the east) but if I was back in the area then I’d definitely visit again. Great food and service and great vibe once the...
Read moreDecided to go to Marks to celebrate a birthday based on reviews here. 4 pizzas, a seafood basket, 2 salads, 5 starters, lamb ribs, 1 pasta, garmin bread, bruscetta, 4 corona and soft drinks came to just over $300. Pizzas were ok. Not the best but certainly not the worst I've eaten for more money. I had the calamari for a starter and it was excellent. The seafood basket was great value for money. Not stingy at all with the quantities and all lightly battered. Would highly recommend going here. Only down point was the noise. Very hard to hear conversations on your own table. To counter this however, the Coronas were only $5 each.
3 years on we came back here to celebrate another birthday in our family. Nothing has changed in that period, which is kind of good and bad. Pizzas are still average, calamari is still excellent, and beers are still $5 or $6 each, which is pretty good. The biggest let down was the service. I know places are struggling at the moment ot get personnel to fill vacant position, but only having 2 people as Wait staff on a Friday night made for some long delays. There is also a $2 corkage charge per person, so keep your eye on this one. Even though only 4 of us had wine, we got slugged 6 x $8 corkage on the bill ($48 in total). This was quickly remedied when pointed out, but the unwary could cop a substantial hit if they don't check. I would still reccommend going here if you haven't been, just don't set the bar too high and you'll have a...
Read moreNever heard of Marks before and we googled it for a friends' gathering.
Perfect for casual dining with family and kids because you won't have to worry about the kids being too noisy etc.
Service was attentive and friendly. We were at the far back from the front but that didn't matter so much because they came to check on us every now and then to make sure we were looked after.
Food was very delicious and generous in portion. I was quite pleasantly surprised by how tasty all the dishes were. We ordered the blue swimmer crab pasta, beef cheek pasta, supreme pizza, Portuguese chicken, salmon salad, Peri Peri chicken wings and kids pasta for 6 adults and 1 toddler and that was plenty to share around. The dish I like the least is the chicken wings. They were a little too salty for me. The chips that came with the kids pasta was done to perfection, golden colour and super crunchy with soft centre. The pasta had lots of meat and crab, great flavour and quality fresh pasta. They also did a wonderful job at keeping the dishes hot until the end. I normally wouldn't eat chicken at restaurant but their Portuguese chicken was crispy on the skin and juicy inside and we really enjoyed the option of having two sides to go with which we had double veggies to balance the meat out.
Overall I really enjoyed the food and service at Marks. I also think they were reasonably priced with the portion they served. I definitely recommend Marks and will find an excuse to go...
