I was taken by my kids on a Sunday for birthday lunch, being Spanish, we were excited to try and support a new venue. The owner was friendly but rather pushy, and although advertised when we ordered beer they didn't have any, there were also several key food items unavailable, despite this we settled for a substantial selection of "plates" to share as entrees and therefore felt that two paellas which were priced at $70 each along with a salad would suffice as a main. When the "plates" arrived, we were a bit surprised at the size of the servings for the price, and each paella in my opinion would have comfortably fed two adults who had not ordered entrees. For dessert the kids had churros, the adults wanted coffee, but that was also unavailable. We asked for the bill and when it came, we were shocked and thought there had been a mistake. We realised we had been charged a whopping $280 just for the paellas. When we queried that charge, we were told that the paellas on the menu were for two and that therefore we had been charged at $35 per head (we were four adults and four kids aged 12 and under). I pointed out that nowhere on the menu did it say the paella was for two, and that regardless of size we had simply ordered two paellas at $70 each and that at no stage had he informed us of the $35 per head charge. His response to that was that $70 price on the menu could have also applied to per person and that he could easily have charged us that! $280 is a lot of paella, and I can assure it wasn't in quantity or quality. To add insult to injury the bill also had a 10% "holiday" charge. It wasn't a public holiday, nor did it say anywhere on the website or the menu that there was a 10% Sunday surcharge. When this cost was queried, the owner stated it was his right to apply this charge. I pointed out that yes, he had the right, however, he also had a legal obligation to fully disclose any surcharges on the premises, the menu and the website, and that he also had an obligation to display accurate menu prices. He responded with a shrug stating that it may be the case and that he would look into it in the future! We were the only patrons.... now I know why. We won't be returning and let him know, and we certainly won't be recommending it. So...
Read moreWe had a comically bad experience at this restaurant. We got there and they didn’t have our reservation which they remedied super quickly because their system was down so that was no problem. They seated us and we realized they’re BYO so heads up! I don’t think it’s listed anywhere in their site - the couple next to us also had the same experience and just ran down to the bottle shop so that was easy as well and just a little annoying.
The service seemed like everyone was in training - they were all perfectly nice but we were sat for about 25-30 minutes before we finally got their attention to order. And also the first server we had said they did have wine so he must have just been confused about BYO as well. They were out of most things (potatoes being a main one that was a shocker) but luckily they had the big juicy prawns! Which showed up and they were the tiniest prawns ever and there were only 5 - it honestly felt like they were playing a joke on us because of how tiny the prawns were. Got a good laugh out of that but they were so expensive it was hard not to be a little frustrated by that.
And as a warning almost everything on the menu is heavily fried, which is not made clear from the menu. I definitely wouldn’t go back and would not recommend unless you get a good laugh out of a bad dinner - in which case this place is for sure for you!
Again the staff was super nice, but that didn’t make up for the all around negative experience we had.
Ps I’m definitely someone who only reviews places that I have an extreme reaction to! But only because I don’t want anyone else to feel that way heh so...
Read moreI cannot recommend Oé Oé Paellas & Tapas highly enough! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a vibe that perfectly blends modern chic with cozy charm. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do.
Now let’s talk about the food—absolutely phenomenal. Every single tapa we tried was a burst of flavour and creativity. From the rich, melt-in-your-mouth jamón to the crispy patatas bravas and the perfectly seasoned octopus, each dish was beautifully presented and full of bold, vibrant flavours that transported us straight to Spain. And the paella? Easily the best I’ve had outside of Spain—authentic, aromatic, and cooked to perfection.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail and the genuine love for food and hospitality that shines through in every aspect. Whether you’re here for a casual night out or a special celebration, Oé Oé Paellas & Tapas delivers an...
