This is an early morning review of the Venue by. the Artist, not the audience. We rate this. theater 5 .... though the back s tage is old carpet and older grapes - one was mushed up. on the pomegranate. just a little care... I am not sure what is available for audiences in Sydney. older audiences, people who come to see my work which is neither riot girl nor ... Melissa Manchester. The venue seemed cavernous, set up with folding chairs. The sound in the house was not great - so remarked audience and that just makes it always feel like a Moose Lodge. From our perspective on stage the balcony looks great. But the house sound was reverberating back to us was full of frequencies that interfered. and. probably could have been dialed out. Those undulating midtones made it hard to sing, they overtook the note I was singing.... so i'd have to move closer to the microphone. It was a struggle all the way, sonically., but the staff was very courteous and the monitor guy did a. good job for us. the upright piano at the venue is pretty much an old rag, but it was the only thing made available to me, and that's unfortunately because uprights, though not typical or ideal for performance are fun. This one, not at all. Even the piano player stayed on his accordian rather than. wrestle with the Yamaha. as i said, The staff on stage were all very polite, helpful young guys. We had a guy helping me tune my instrument during the show. So luxurious! The monitor fellow was good, quick, and quietly mouthed. 'thats not me'. when i indicated the undulating tones. ok Nuf said. And the lighting guy asked if the smoke was bothering me. So there was so much care and consideration, I've got to give the club five stars for good manners and kindness. for sound, not so much. I could not see the show but the audience really love it, and so I bet the lights were great. It was fairly clean, though my 'private' toilet was actually not so private. These are small things. The show was great. Sometimes you gotta carve uphill, like 7 dwarfs, and find that frozen jewel of life waiting in everyones heart. You got to Work. and I am glad the audience ( if the audience) was not a ware of the problems on stage. They made the show fabulous, dancing on their seats, creepinp up from the back and standing on the sides, and just finally taking over the aisles. A Great Show, good crew, loved seeing the folks way in back waving and singing The...
Read moreWent to The Factory to see Iniko and was great! I didn't expect much in terms of gluten free options so we ate beforehand and we found parking a street or two away in front of the Marrickville Public School so it was a relatively short walk from there. There was a bit a queue lining up to go in and so if the weather isn't brilliant bring an umbrella in case you're standing in lines outside waiting to get in because you will be standing in the rain. Once in the venue there an area outside the main hall that is like vendor trucks the covers overhead drip a bit so again, umbrella 🌂 😀 . Inside is a bar with some cocktail and on tap selections. Unfortunately I only saw Pringles available to purchase inside which whilst delicious aren't gluten free so if you need gf I'd eat out beforehand and bring any snacks with you. First on support act was Shanae who was fantastic and then Iniko came out and although surprisingly tiny 😉 and Unfortunately was not very well performed brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed it. The area is not too large and great for a more intimate performance - wasn't that hard to find, or park, but it was a miserable evening and could potentially have very limited parking for any larger scale event. I loved the great graffiti murals in the venue and in the streets on our walk to and from the car too. Cocktails were $18 mostly but...
Read moreTerrible security at the venue and terrible management. I was removed from the venue very early in the night and I had literally done nothing wrong to anybody. Security were out for blood that night and I witnessed them tackle someone to the ground and force his head to the floor, they removed myself and my friend from the venue out of the blue because apparently someone told them we did something do them. We had done nothing to anybody but management take the word of anyone I guess and promtly removed us. It was very early in the evening and I missed an international act because of this behaviour. They even called the police because I wanted to discuss the reasons why I was being ejected. Extremely excessive. after we left we witnessed security chasing people 500m down the street away from the venue. I frequent Sydney concert venues and have been to all of them many many times and understand the etiquette of how to behave in public in these venues and am dumbfounded at the behaviour of the security and management shown that night. I will never go back to this venue and I would recommend that everyone avoid it as as it tolerates toxic behaviour from security and that behaviour is fully supported by the venue management. If I could give negative...
