Padre Coffee Paddington — Restaurant in Sydney

In the popular leafy suburb of Paddington, at the five ways, where you’ll find plenty of cafes is a new addition in the form of a coffee bar. Melbourne brand Padre roasters have a concept store, a sleek design with a long coffee bar, showcasing their V3 machine, bar seating and a round table for those dining in. There’s multiple grinders, self-serve taps pouring hot filter and cold brew, and walls line with products to buy such as beans and coffee equipment. I love the light colour palette and it feels bright and welcoming.

I enjoy their roast, having tried it quite often at Cut Lunch Deli in Clovelly. I was keen to have it direct from the source and glad I did, it was an excellent flat white. Smooth and nicely flavoured.

It’s all about the coffee though, but if you’re hungry, there’s some pastries on the front counter in the likes of cookies and Portuguese Tarts.

Friendly staff and efficient service. Being right near the bus stop will be sure to grab the passers by....

Uhh one of the worst customer service I’ve experienced…After coming in on a quiet Saturday afternoon, I waited 20 minutes for my coffee to arrive because the staff decided to serve the people behind us first and spent 20 minutes completing the sale of their coffee machine, instead of making 2 coffees for the customer who came in first…. Once the sale was complete, they even made those two customers drinks before ours…. Bear in mind, we arrived and ordered our drinks first!! There were also two baristas working, but to them it made more sense for both of them to go sell a coffee machine, instead of one of them making a coffee order first…

Genuinely just wondering why they thought it made more sense to sell the coffee machine sold after placing our order, first. Instead of making our coffee, letting us sit and enjoy our coffee, then proceeding to sell the machine…. On top of that, make their order...

First off you are coming here for Coffee not Brunch! And it is this commitment/focus to getting coffee bang on that I REALLY like and the results show. Ben and his team are a really friendly bunch and I throughly enjoyed talking coffee with them. Additionally, I over heard them talking to a customer, who was inexperienced at pouring there own espressos at home, and found it refreshing that they offered friendly advice WITHOUT a hint of the arrogance that tends to swirl around connoisseurs. As a long black drinker, I was surprised how much I enjoyed their filter coffee!

I’ll be back next time I’m in town....
