Located at 58a Penshurst Street, Penshurst, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 A great place to come to with friends and family for a nice meal at reasonable prices. The bistro has an Asian menu and an Australian menu. It’s open daily for lunch from 12.00 noon until 2.00pm and dinner from 5.30pm till 8.30pm Monday to Saturday and 5.30pm till 8.00pm on Sunday. The food is delicious. I particularly enjoy the Asian dishes. 😋 The cafe is open daily from 10.00am till late. It offers a great selection of cakes and pastries along with tea, coffee etc. I would recommend becoming a member so you can get the discount. Every Tuesday from 11.00am, there’s indoor bowls. Also, from 7.00pm, there’s Trivia Night. On Wednesday and Sundays, there’s raffles with tickets selling from 5.30pm. On Friday, there is also a Footy Club Meat Raffle with tickets selling from 6.00pm. If you don’t drive, there’s a club taxi service on Wednesday to Sunday from 6.00pm. There is also Champagne Breakfast every Sunday from 9.15am until 10.30am In the bar, Happy Hour is Monday to Thursday from 5.00pm until 6.00pm. So there is obviously a great number of activities to get involved in. Definitely worth a visit. Very easy to get to by public transportation as the train 🚊 station is just 5 minutes walk away and there’s a bus 🚌 stop practically outside the front door. Thumbs Up from...
Read moreRecently refreshed, the bistro (Lower Ground level) is a mix of Australian & Asian food. It normally has 5 specials (1 is always a roast, veg and all the trimmings) for lunch or dinner and 40-50 different meal styles on offer. Servings are large, unless your a huge eater you won't finish your main if you start with an entree. Prices are very moderate as usual RSL prices as a guide, members get a 20% discount on everything (including alcoholic drinks) on presenting a members card. 1 members card can cover a round of drinks, so keep this in mind when ordering.
Meals are fresh, well cooked and are typical mix of pub/Asian fare with all the usual staples, with enough variety to provide something for everyone. Deserts are top notch and you have a choice of 5-10 plus toppings.
Service is fast, table service if you or a guest needs a hand, wheelchairs are catered for and accommodated everywhere. The restaurant seats 100+, but you'll need to book on public holidays as it's very popular. It's menu and hours are on its website and access is $19 a year for locals or free for temporary member ship via a driver's licence. Food is plain but honest and lots of it. Price is low given what you get.
Parking is on street at the front or 50+ parking sites in the rear carpark, you can enter via the rear door if you have a member card or get buzzed in via...
Read moreThe front desk staff are nice, but the bistro....don't get me started. They have an Australian and an Asian menu; I have tried both. Unfortunately, they cannot cook Aussie food that well, but the Chinese is pretty good. But don't expect any extra condiments without having to enquire. They guard these better than Kim Jong guards his borders. And if you can't finish your meal and want a doggy bag/container, 50c thanks. Never heard of this anywhere else!
My most recent visit, they got my order wrong and added something I'm allergic to that I requested not to have. They put it in anyway, and when I said something the lady says "we'll just have the chef pick it out". By that logic, if I hypothetically hit you with my car and you've got shards of glass and metal stuck in you, just pick it out and you'll be right mate. Three stars only because of the reception...
