My husband had to make a quick dash to Strathfield and didnt want to go into city cente so we thought we would explore the Sydney suburd, Regent Park. We found the Regent Park hotel and called to ask of they have a quiet room for a nite. Karen the manager was very assuring and efficient in booking us in and when we arrived, it was Friday night, the pub was full and we were welcome by her and hwr staff's warm and cheerfulness. We were offered a drink, and I was tempted by the amount of coins to be won on the 'balance the coin on the lemon challenge. I was sorely disappointed but had a great time being encouraged by Karen and her staff while my husband was trying hard to tell me the science meant I would lose money. Who cares if you are having fun??||||The room is modern and looks like it has been recentmy refurbished, clean, bed is fabulously comfy, bathroom is sparkling clean! Breakfast came in a square box, ample tea coffee a d bikkie, and a 10% off if were to dine in. The pub is a thriving mix of cultures and peoples meaning its afriendly place for everyone. ||||Nearby there are restaurants, cafes, hairdressers, and even hand made old school jeweller- walking up and down the street, tasting the food, drinks and and using the services in this local suburban businesses reminds me that the Australian dream is built on hope, optimism and the best of multiculturalism. ||||You have to stay the nite here, drink in the pub, try the lemon challenge, go down to the sweets palace and have coffee and lebanese pastries there, get your hair done at the nearby hairdresser, your nails painted to experience Sydney like you never have before.||||This is ocker Aussie and multiculturalism at its best!! Highly recommended for those who have love the ocker and the blend...
Read moreI booked a room through a booking website for one night for my pilot training at Bankstown airport. I used the 'parking included' filter and this hotel was listed under that. Please note it is a traditional corner pub with no parking in the grounds except a disabled bay and one other bay in an alley out the back. I took that bay but it was a prime location for a break in and I was quite shocked to see my car even still there the next morning. I even rung down to reception in disbelief thinking maybe the hotel had an agreement with a block of apartments nearby to use their undercover parking or something. The staff member confirmed the hotel does not provide parking. While the fit out was 4 star and they have a cheap and good restaurant, these will not compensate for the lack of parking. The streets around the hotel have half hour metered parking and it doesn't feel like a safe area. You don't want your stay/ holiday wrecked by a car break in/ theft. Also there is no lift and rather steep steps up to the accommodation on the second floor. Yes, I know the hospitality sector is doing it tough, so I will give you a great alternative in the Bankstown area. The Hume Hotel has rooms which have been fitted out by the exact same company and to the same standard and has ample on-site parking, not to mention security card swipe access to the accommodation section (separate area...
Read moreMy friend and I stayed here for the Queen concert weekend being in our fifties we found the Nightcap accommodating and clean, we arrived and found the Welsh barman very helpful offering to carry our bags as rooms are upstairs, being a light sleeper I had no problems with noise or noisy guests (thank you for your curtesy) Meals were delicious and affordable you get a discount with your room card, a free drink and free bottled water in your room. Train station is across the road, getting to and from ANZ Stadium was easy, we did that on the way back, make sure you take the West Line. Getting to the stadium we shared a Taxi ride with two wee Scottish hens ( thank you ladies) at a cost of 40 dollars between us. I parked my beloved car in a car park near the Commonwealth Bank and she was safe but if you look around there are spaces. When we arrived I felt a little uneasy as this is a little different to what I am used to especially coming home after a night out and walking through the back alley but we revelled in the experience and I soon warmed to it and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would not recommend the hotel to people with a disability or wheelchair access as rooms...
