3.5 - Flavour Noodles $18.80, Egg & Chive Pancake $16.80.
They use lots of oil but food is yummy when hot. Skeleton staff. No atmosphere, small amount of Customers now.
Service/Atmosphere Issues. Times are tough - they have limited their menu and no longer serve half portions of dumplings anymore (how that helps them cost-wise, I'm not 100%). Service is cold - and you have to figure it out on your own that they don't serve you at the table anymore. They just ignore you and sit at the cashier under height of the desk, out of sight. Despite the food being good and me recommending it to friends, I will try to avoid it for places with more welcoming service and happier staff/customers. The lighting is artificial which adds to the drab mood. Plenty of other places to eat in Eastwood.
4.7 - Style: Northern Chinese Food. Handmade noodles, soups, and dumplings. They've updated their menu. Plenty of cold dishes. The texture of the noodles (chopped, stir-fried or in soup) are springy and delicious. The amount of variety is amazing. Lamb skewers and buns are definitely a must-try and simple dishes like stir-fried Vegetables and Mushrooms will have your tastebuds singing! Today, I had Flavour Noodles and Snow Pea...
Read moreVery impressed with the hand made noodles and dumplings here.
There are so many Asian eateries in Eastwood but nothing compares to this little modest joint.
I ordered a playful bowl of beef noodles. Rich with the scent of Northern Chinese hot spices, a sensation of visual unbalance was upon me as I stared into my enormous bowl, with noodles that come in different lengths and widths as they were hand made. My brain urges me to engulf everything before me, before my OCD catches up.
My partner was equally impressed with her order - sour and hot noodles with dumplings. The noodle was rich in flavour, having absorbed all the juiciest parts of the soup. Honestly we weren’t expecting to find 8 dumplings in the noodle when the majority of other places would’ve counted 5-6 in their menus.
I think we were quite blown away on the handmade part that Sea-Bay proudly exhibits. I could taste the freshness of the ingredients and this is often the difficult part for other restaurants that offer similar gourmet style. In a homogeneous backdrop one can often find that the dish is overwhelmed by heavy taste from the soup. Honestly we were probably expecting the same yet our palettes were greatly satisfied.
I will definitely be...
Read moreI really appreciate texture, and the noodles here were just perfect. We got the Fried Hand-Made Noodles with Lamb (B17) which became my favourite. It was fragrant with garlic and the noodles were chewy. The dish had capsicum, tomato, onion, cabbage and other delicious pieces which were challenging to pick up with chopsticks, but that was part of the fun. The meal was large (probably 1.5x a normal serving size) and full of flavour. We also got the large plate of Xin Jiang Style Chicken (E15). It came with lots of sauce in a huge plate, with large flat noodles. It had an aroma of star anise, and there were lots of chicken pieces with bones still in. We also recommend the shallot pancakes (A02) , which were crispy and flaky almost like a pastry. We were seated near the back of the restaurant, so one awkward thing was that our table was slanted significantly, our chopsticks kept rolling down the table and there were a few small spills of water or tea . But we were a large table (11 guests crammed onto two tables) and I got the sense they were making an extra effort to accommodate us in the narrow restaurant, so we laughed it off. For the quality of the food we got, I'd definitely...
