Southlands Takeaway Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Sydney

Do not waste your time here. We on longer go here. Everytime we went there was always an issue. They can only do one order at a time. They need to write orders down which is so time consuming especially if you have a large order. And they look through the order again and again when they finally get to making your order. Also time consuming going through order again to enter into register for payment. You really just need a proper system. Please get with times and buy the technology you need to be more efficient. Orders are fresh if they dont have to make burgers or it's not busy. Usually only 2 staff even during peak periods so if there is a long line 1 staff takes all orders and then starts on first order taken. No idea what the second staff is doing. Sometimes staff chat even though its busy. Sometimes 3 staff. Every seafood order we've had always takes over 20 minutes even if the items are already made. You think you will get fresh items because it takes so long for your order and they aren't using the items you can clearly see there ready but then 20min later they pack those items. Once I just wanted to get a whole chicken and chips which were already cooked so i thought it would be quick and would get my order right away. It was only myself and 2 other customers. I ordered and waited. The staff started making what i persumed was the other customers orders. 1 staff was making a burger and her total focus was on this burger. I saw second staff take out a chicken put it in a bag and leave it outside. I think she was about to get the chips but then the end of school rush came in. The staff member stopped in the middle of scooping up chips and started taking orders. Like 15 plus orders. I patiently waited while I could see my chicken getting cold. After all orders were taken my order seemed to have been forgotten along with the other 2 customers that were there first. At some point the burger had joined my chicken and looked like that order also just needed chips. After another 10 minutes waiting i had enough and told the staff I had waited almost 50 min now. She asked me what my order was as she couldnt find the order she had written down against my ticket number. So I told her. She said I had to wait as they make the orders as they come in. I said i was there before that rush came in. She just said oh and then she grabbed the by now cold chicken . I told her that chicken has been sitting out there for over 20 min can i get a hot one. She replied no it hasnt she just packed it. I told her no I have seen when you packed it and how long it was out. You just grabbed it you didnt just pack it. She huffed and puffed and got me another chicken but was very rude and not apologetic at all for the delay. She put the chicken that had been out that entire time back in. Another time I just wanted a garlic sauce. There was only 1 customer who was collecting her order from 1 staff. The second staff was just looking through stock. I waited while first staff was talking to the customer and the second staff just ignored me. After 5min it didnt look like either staff would help me so I just interrupted and said could i please just get a garlic sauce. They both then decided to help. Staff one told staff 2 to get the sauce while she put it in the register. They then started to have some sort of conversation about what paper bag to put the sauce in. I couldn't believe it. i just said i dont need a bag could i please just have the sauce. Just the strangest things...

I had bought takeaway from here for over 30 years and the food was always of utmost quality! The previous owners and staff were lovely and always friendly. I have no faults with the previous owners at all, it was sad to see it passed over to new owners.

I bought lunch there yesterday 06/04/24 . It was atrocious, I would not feed it to a dog! The chips were dry, rock hard, shrivelled up with no taste at all.

The hamburgers were disgusting also, no taste either with bacon that was hard, beetroot that was so thin, hard and also tasteless!! A hard slice of tomato with the core piece cut out of the middle.

A fish cocktail that was dried out and hard too. I spent a ridiculous amount of money on disgusting food, as the prices are a joke. It’s the worst takeaway I’ve ever had!!

The salads looked dried out and the prawns hadn’t been cleaned properly, they still had the poo line in them! I will never buy food from there again. And last but not least, the staff aren’t...

I ordered the seafood basket when the employee told us they did not have any chips. I then ordered the basket without the chips and asked if we could add an extra seafood stick and the woman working there said they also don’t have any seafood sticks… She went on to say she would substitute the two items but gave me one calamari ring and a few scallops for a $21 ‘seafood basket’.

I understand they may not have certain items everyday but the employee did not seem apologetic at all and had an attitude when we ordered. I would have happily taken the substitution, or a discount for the missing food, but I don’t believe what we were substituted was worth the price.

I normally order my food from this location so today was definitely out of order for them, I enjoy there food, I just believe they could have at least tried harder to make up for the missing food or at least put a sign up saying they were out of chips, etc, so I would have...
