It genuinely pains me to write this review after having frequented Sud numerous times in the past. When you walk in they display a certificate as one of the top Italian restaurants in the world. I'm sorry to say, I wouldn't rate it as such. We had an early booking for Mother's Day dinner and the main restaurant was not completely full. (This is very strange as this place was always busy) I had to ask 5x for our drinks as food started to arrive but drinks were nowhere to be seen. I was told 1 hour into opening on a peak night, there was no sparkling water. When I repeatedly asked for my girls apple juice, they couldn't drink it once they came because there was white stuff floating in it. It was heartbreaking to see every table complaining that their orders hadn't arrived. Many people left full plates of food on the table and left. The 2 servers were clearly confused, didn't understand the Italian menu names and the lady doing the drinks- well, she looked like she was just as lost. I question where she had an RSA. The food was clearly not made by Italians and not made with love. The garlic pizza had bitter full garlic pieces. It was almost inedible (we hesitantly ate it because we were starving). Paccheri Pasta was undercooked, not Al dente, the crab pasta looked like it was canned crab not fresh crab pieces. The Margherita pizza sauce had no seasoning and it was very sad. As did every dish. My $42 2x lamb cutlets with chat potatoes were the smallest I have ever been served. Again, no seasoning and not cooked with love. To their credit, they did give us a complementary soft drink and arancini. On a peak night like Mother's Day, I truly believed to receive an amazing level of service. Alas, it was not to be and without one Italian person either cooking or serving, it means that we will not return. Not the last memory of this once great local I wanted to have.

Italian for South, “Sud” brings good southern Italian street food to Sydney, with its location in Concord. Sud has a large inviting dining space, with a large mural of a vespa in an Italian laneway, helping you picture the feel of the Italian street food vibe. We feel welcome as staff are friendly and show us to our table and explain the menu to us. It is a culinary adventure with a good range of tasty food and much of which appeals to our palate. On arrival we were greeted and taken to our table. The waiter was a good character, whitty and knowledgeable, which contributed to a great dining experience. There were two of us so we decided to share dishes since it all sounded so good. The portions were very generous and we probably over ordered! We decided to share a pizza to start and went with the Lombarda the toppings were a little different from the norm; of Fior di Latte, pear, walnut and Gorgonzola dolce. This was a good pizza, the cheese stretching as we grabbed our slice and the flavours combined nicely. The Bistecca Di manzo sounded very inviting and we had to order this, meat being a favourite of ours. This was a nice piece of meat, a 300g grain fed Angus Sirloin and the beef jus was delicious, as were the sides of mash potato, Dutch carrots and mushrooms. Another dish we couldn't pass on was from the special menu, it was the confit half lobster, served atop of tightly wound fettuccine served in a rich tasty seafood, cherry tomato sauce. We had a great dining experience and meal at Sud, this is a good suburban Italian restaurant is well worth a visit.

Not sure where to start but never have I ever experienced a place that had no customer service. First time dining here for a last minute Valentine's day dinner and everything went wrong the second we walked in. Staff was so inexperienced and unorganized, it felt like it was all their first day on the job. I even overheard staff at the end of the night asking for each other's name's. Wait staff paid no attention to table service including taking orders and wandering around as if to look busy (although it was not a very busy night). The table next to us also didn't have their order taken for 30 mins and had only been served because wait staff had placed food on the incorrect table. The people replied "its not ours we havent even been served yet" and the waiter was surprised. Unfortunately we had a piece of broken plastic (perhaps from a container) in our spaghetti to which we brought it to the attention of the manager(?) with no apology or compensation. Instead, at the end of the night they offered free vodka shots which we refused. Our food was also not brought out together and we had to wait 40 mins for our pizza to come after our pasta. It was such an odd experience and we had to laugh that such a place like this existed.

Please take a moment to read my review below. If you’re hoping for a nice evening with good food and honest service, do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant!

This was our first and definitely last visit. If I could give zero stars, I would.

We went to this restaurant around 7:30 PM last night on the long weekend, surprisingly to find it not very busy. We were handed menus and decided to order a pasta, a pizza, a steak, and a salad. When we inquired about the “catch of the day” for the seafood pasta, we were told they didn’t have any fish — only prawns. When I asked for clarification (since prawns were already part of the dish), the staff said they’d just add extra prawns instead. So, basically, no variety — just prawn pasta.

It didn’t stop there. We were told they were out of steak, had no rocket for the salad, and couldn’t make any pizzas because they were out of stock. Every item we asked about was unavailable. The reason? They had a busy lunch service — which was their excuse for being out of nearly everything by dinner time.

We were starving and had made a point to enjoy a nice dinner out, but the night was completely ruined. If the kitchen had no stock, why stay open or hand out a full menu instead of informing guests upfront about the limited options?

The service was just as disappointing. Not a single apology or acknowledgment of the poor experience as we left. The woman at the front, who seemed like the manager, didn’t even say a word.

I’ve heard there’s been a change of ownership — and it really shows. The attitude, the service, and the whole experience were simply unacceptable. What a shame for the restaurant and the loyal customers it once had.

My rating is a...

Food was amazing so hats off the the chef and kitchen staff. One of the waiters and waitress were an absolute disaster!! They were so rude and the waitress who is from Napal could hardly understand English. Her mannerism was so rude and she had a bad attitude. It really ruined our night. When our dessert came out they forgot to send the gelato with one of the desserts and served it with 4 spoons on the plate as if it was a shared dessert and then served two other desserts came out on one plate and the forth dessert on another. It was so confusing. Then when we mentioned this to the waitress advising her that they made a mistake with the desserts as it didn’t have the help to with it but she made an arrogant comment saying well can’t you tell it’s ricotta by looking at it?? We then mentioned that there was no gelato which was on the menu so she stormed off and then brought out a cup with gelato in it and slammed it on the table. It was the worst service I’ve received in a long time. The older man who was also a waiter was so arrogant. The four of us all ordered the same Italian pasta dish and he said “come on!!! Why can’t you order something different, that’s so boring” we said no we really want to try to marinara and he was trying to convince us to order baramundi! It just made us feel uncomfortable. There was a young waiter there who was so good and gave outstanding service when we first arrived but unfortunately he didn’t look after our table for the night. We were recommended by a friend who knew the owner and cancelled our original booking at another restaurant but...
