I attended the restaurant and ordered my food including beef terriyaki, brown rice salmon and avocado sushi and a bowl of rice. The food was small for the price for instance, I only got six small pieces of beef terriyaki at $9.80 and had to pay extra for rice.

After finishing my food I proceeded to pay at the cash register via EFTPOS and the food attendant stated it was $16.10. In response, I suggested EFTPOS and she gave me the back of the EFTPOS machine to tap my card. We thanked each other but then I asked for a receipt and after presenting it to me, I noticed that she had charged me $17.10. I enquired why she charged me an extra one dollar. She asserted that it was an EFTPOS charge and in response, I asked where the signage was which she pointed downwards, pointing to an obscure sign that is blocked by people seated eating at the sushi bar. I kindly prompted her that the sign is hard to see and enquired about the $1 fee stating “it’s a bit expensive”. She asserted that she could take cash otherwise it is $1 EFTPOS fee. I asked her why I wasn’t informed she had charged me $1 and she remained adamant about the $1 EFTPOS charge otherwise to go and get cash. I advised her that it was illegal what she’d done and after already trying to negotiate the $1, walked away, ending the conversation.

The ACCC changed the laws last year in Sep 2017 that only a small fee of 1-3 pc may be charged. Any other costs for the equipment are not to be covered by customers, but the store itself. It’s illegal what this store is doing. I also thought it was entirely disrespectful to try and charge me an extra dollar by being coy and hiding the screen while I tapped my card. I suggest all customers challenge Sushi Maru’s EFTPOS and credit charge and be aware of the total they’re charging you. They tried to exploit me and...

I usually like stopping by this place for a snack after work and have become a loyal customer because the food is good and most of the staff are friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, there is one staff member who consistently makes my visits uncomfortable. She treats me rudely, and I have noticed similar behavior with other customers, which negatively affects the experience.

For example, in the past when I asked for something, she always responded rudely and seemed annoyed. Today, she treated me poorly from the moment I arrived. I usually come during the afternoon, but today I came during the last hour. She approached me with an even ruder attitude and said they were closing and taking away all the food, earlier than expected. When I pointed out that the place normally closes later, she walked away without addressing my concern.

I ate quickly feeling stressed, and when I went to pay, she was again extremely rude and argued with me over a stamp on the loyalty card. I had spent over $20, so I expected to receive a stamp, but because I paid with cash, the total came to $19.80. A confusing system that she used to annoying me in stead of making me a happy customer. In the end, the situation escalated instead of being resolved. When I mentioned that I might not return because of her, she responded by telling me I didn’t need to come back if I was unhappy, which left me feeling unwelcome and frustrated.

I am leaving this one-star review to emphasize the importance of training employees to treat customers respectfully. Management should ensure all staff provide a welcoming and pleasant experience because negative interactions can affect...

Honestly people giving this 5 stars have clearly never tried good sushi. Sorry I hate to say this as staff and chefs are so nice…but that was the worst sushi I’ve ever had. Some dishes looked ok but it’s very hit or miss. Raw tuna did not taste fresh. The rice tasted dry and crumbled easily. Also when you order something off the menu, if it’s already on the train they just grab it off so you may get something dry. Overall super disappointing especially given the price. Even sushi hub pop up stores have better quality sushi offered. BUT if you don’t eat sushi regularly you’d probably still enjoy it. And the workers are lovely ! and maybe they just had...

Look if you want an authentic sushi experience, don’t go to a sushi train! This was a fun way to get the kids to try a diverse range of sushi and it was worth it! Nice open venue! Our group of 7 came here on a Monday where they close at 8pm so they were a bit understaffed! But they were very accomodating to our needs! They were out of fresh salmon for any made-to-order dishes, but still had many pre-made salmon sushi that were torched and served! We also got the karaage chicken curry ramen and the noodles were a great texture. If you can block out of the loud 90s music and the blasting fans, its a fun dining experience.

You‘ll leave broke and hungry… Positives first: - They were very quick in cleaning up a place for me and service is pretty fast. - The color coding for prices is nicely done. Negatives: - Food feels like same quality as from a supermarket in those pre-packed plastic boxes eventhough it’s freshly made in front of you. - If you like to eat a lot, be prepared to leave broke. If you‘re coming in hungry you won’t be able to pay less than 30$. This would be okay for good sushi but given the quality that’s way too much. - It’s a bit cramped in there so not a lot of space to get comfi at the counter.

Little expensive. Few different dishes on offer but would have liked more favour. Nice set up I.e. Loved that there is two rows of the train within access at all times. Update: There seems to be alot of difference between the menu & the product served once ordered. I.e. Sauces different & that's not good when your ordering for a child. There is also increases in the prices of products that don't make sense. I.e. $0.50 extra for grilling & you get one less roll....I would also suggest staff could do with more customer service training.
