I went there for dinner with my partner and grandson. We ordered meat balls for my grandson (the reason we went there as he wanted meat balls for dinner, the portion was good for the price and the flavour was of the best meatballs I had in years) then I ordered the Fettuccine Moretti which I also enjoyed very much although you wouldn’t be able to share as its is a much smaller size than a traditional old style Italian would serve, and my partner ordered the Spaguetti marinara which ‘‘twas of a good size and my partner loved. For desert I chose the Tiramisu and my partner and grandson ordered the chocolate gelato. The overal food quality, texture and flavour I would give a 5 stars except for the sizing for the price. However as I’m not a big eater I give it a 5 anyway. For the service the staff were good but not attentious with the order and double the amount of portions that we ordered for 3 items and added coffees and extra deserts to the bill that we didn’t requested or have at all (it looks like that they added the items to the bill by mistake??? I wasn’t a mixed up bill, it just had extra items added to it which I’m thankful to my partner for checking it (as I usually just assume that it is correct and pay) as it was over $50 on extra items that we didn’t ordered, eat or was served to us. That was a bit disappointing as I felt that it was dishonest since I’m sure that there are people that doesn’t split bills and don’t even look at what they were served and are paying for. So please check your bill...
Read moreVery bad service. No greeting at arrival for 4 of us, just a tilt of chin to indicate questioning for reservation info. No reception or any welcoming gesture after being seated. No offering of recommendations or any contact and conversation! Had to gesture to get the service staff’s attention to order. When asking the waiter for popular orders, there is no offering just casual “they are all there on the menu” attitude. Upon ordering, my enquiry of the dishes was met with a bit of quiet but noticeable snickering and sneering as I’m not familiar with Italian menu. We ordered 7 dishes and there was no service during our meal time. We had to gesture the waiter to top up our water. The food was not tasty and pasta is overcooked. My neighbor diners settled their bill at their table with the waiter delivering their bill and the credit card machine to the table. When I tried to settle the bill, nobody came over though I raised my hand twice. So I had to walked to the front desk to pay. Paid $235.50. Charged 1.5% credit card fee even on my Visa card, which is unusual coz surcharges normally apply to Amex and diners club cards. Anyways, paid $239 with $10 tip. I said Thank you before departure. The waiters turned their backs coldly at us with no good bye let alone a Thank You. We have been nothing but curteous, the restaurant staff are very rude and disrespectful! Will never go back again and will not recommend to...
Read moreWent there for the first time yesterday evening. We were due to go to the Cinema next door at 7 and arrived at 6 ish & joined by our third person at 6.15 pm.
We asked to sit at two (two person) small tables joined together to have space on the table but were told twice that was not going to happen. Since we were going to be out of there quickly, I thought it was a bit harsh although I must admit we weren't asked up front if we were going to the movies (we explained that upon ordering and tried to order meals that were quick to prepare).
The food was delivered to the table quickly and was really yummy. The salads were creative and delicious combinations. The food is much more 'Ristorante' than 'Pizzeria' .
I was a bit disappointed with the attitude towards us as first time customers (& potential regulars due to proximity to the Palace Cinemas). The size and sheer volume of customers to serve in the Bar-restaurant may have a bearing on this. When our movie finished around 9pm, the restaurant was still packed.
Next time I would book beforehand and see if the experience...
