The Arthouse — Restaurant in Sydney

We placed our order and it took over an hour for our order to come out, when there was only one other table of customers in the restaurant. Also we were not provided with any water at any point and everyone who came after us was given the all the care and consideration. We been was served by an older waitress, who was arrogant, rude and extremely unprofessional. When I was asking her politely how long will it take to get our food. She just gave me look like I made a huge mistake by asking her that question. She reply be that there are lots of order before us and we have to wait more longer if we want to eat here, also if we don't want to wait then we need to pay for food and leave the restaurant. I had 2 kids with me my older one was super hungry and my new born baby start to crying as well because it's been over an hr and I need to feed the new born baby as well still no food. I told the lady that i need to food the new born baby, then she said that's not her problem and when I have little kids I shouldn't have came to that restaurant at all. I felt so Insulated by over her. The lady did not apologise or said sorry to me at all instead she was arguing with me. Then we decided to do takeout instand to dine in, because i didnt felt like to waste my time by stay there for one single moment. I usually don't write bad reviews but today I was feeling so disappointed and the attitude I received from the waitress was highly devastated. Such a poor quality service average food. I rather spend my money somewhere else where I will receive good food excellent service and respect for been different . I would not recommend this place at all specially if you have a kids like me because those people will keep insulting you doesn't matter how good you behave with them. What a waste of my time money and energy at this place. We will never come back to this place. This was our first time and last time visit at this restaurant. This is really a fart...

I always enjoy going here. They serve a nice coffee and the food is delicious.

Edit: the above review was before the current owners took over. I will no longer spend my money at this business or recommend them to anyone after really disappointing treatment last Tuesday 11.6.24. Several people who came in after me were served before me, my meal, when it finally came, was cold and then, after leaving most of my meal behind, stood and waited at the counter to pay only for someone else to walk up and be immediately served before me. I paid and just let the woman at the counter know that my meal had been cold and the service pretty poor. She literally said to me "well it didn't stop you eating it did it" (it actually had) and that I was making her sad and ruining HER day. I sent two private messages to this business regarding this appalling treatment and they left me on read and did not respond. I can only imagine it was this same rude woman in charge of feedback and that this business could not care less about it's customers. I will actively discourage anyone from...

Really tasty food here, their coffee and tea were both nice too! We also enjoyed a New York lemon cheesecake and will need to try the strawberry one next (Update: Strawberry one was fantastic too... Saw a Blackberry one I think that we've gotta try now)! My only complaint would be that sometimes the slice of sourdough is a bit too small with their scrambled eggs, so I had to pay extra to request another. However they've been super accommodating and even remembered my preference for two slices in a future visit! Other times, the sourdough has been plenty big as a single slice. Otherwise, the eggs themselves are consistently really nice and were one of the first where I didn't need to use salt! Can confirm that they do bacon really nicely too!

Also a tip - they've got lunch specials too which are pretty good value for money!

It's also a nicely put together cafe, you can tell the people who run this cafe have an eye for detail and design. Very lovely spot to relax and enjoy breakfast! They do breakfast until 3pm which is great for those of us who wake up late...
