POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Food too expensive and small portions but ok for a one off lunch (based on my previous attendance). Unfortunately after a good start to my food previous experience at The Commune Project , things have recently changed. It’s disappointing what happened during my latest visit. I arrived there for lunch. The cafe was half empty but at the same time there were more that a few people sitting inside and outside cafe. I walked in and have asked if I could seat near the window. There were two tiny round tables side by side which would probably be a good fit 2-3 people max, but really 2 ppl per round tables at the window. Those tables are tiny. I thought that would be a perfect spot for one customer. The waiter refused and mumbled something that those two tables are for more people and showed me area with two much bigger and square tables in the opposite side of the cafe ! Why did he imply I want to seat at two round tables? Well does it mean the one customer is less worthy that two or more? I sat at the bigger square table which was put together with another square table, for a moment and realised the other table I wanted is smaller and I’m now seating at a much bigger table where they could actually fit more people and I’m sitting next to TOILETS away from everybody else in the cafe!!! I left and I WILL NEVER spend my money in that cafe again. There are plenty decent cafes in the area where customers are treated with respect, for example a cafe next door to The Commune Project. In addition to that I have stayed in the area and saw those small round tables empty for at least 30 minutes with no customers seating where I was hoping to seat.
Images have not been attached but available (No option to attach? However, I note a previous 5 star review seemed as if a professional photographer was present to take professional photos hmm) , square table for 4 people seemed like a good fit for 1 person, but a round table for 2 people was not appropriate?
Thank you but no thank you for a poor...
Read moreSuch a great cafe with a wonderful atmosphere! We were lucky enough to try their breakfast menu which featured both sweet & savoury items. We ordered three items off of their menu including; tacos, crispy chicken & pancakes. The pancakes were light, fluffy and full of flavour with a gorgeous berry compote and ice cream to top it off! The crispy chicken paired amazingly with the salad and sauce it came with, the chicken was perfectly crunchy on the outside with juicy tender chicken inside. Finally, the tacos they were full of flavour with a generous salad filling; the only issue we found was that it could do with an extra piece of fish, but even without the extra piece of fish this is a great menu item to choose. They have great smoothies and iced coffee so make sure you check those out if you visit because they hit the spot fantastically 👏🏼
The staff are more than accomodating and offer fantastic service with...
Read moreAte here on a Saturday, checked the bill and found a 10% surcharge itemised only as ‘Surcharge’. Went back to ask what it was for, and they told me they charge this on weekends - not just Sundays, weekends.
I’m worried to ask what they charge on public holidays - I didn’t see it on the menu, or the other dubious weekend surcharge for that matter. I’m not saying it wasn’t clearly outlined, I just never bothered to look because who surcharges on a Saturday?! I guess this is my fault, right?
However, I’m pretty sure they covered any additional Saturday expenses incurred with the small bowl of chips for $15.
What they’ve done isn’t illegal, but it is unreasonable and unprecedented to charge a surcharge on a Saturday.
It’s not about the $4.35, it’s the fact you still felt the need to add a surcharge for the high cost of ‘skilled labour’ after messing up the drink order.
Food was good....
