I have been supporting this local business for years, even telling everyone how great the coffee is. Unfortunately, getting a good coffee on the weekend has become a hit and miss. Sometimes I had to just throw it out, other times my skim latte was like a blob of ice cream on top, or way too hot. On trying to be nice and polite to ask for a proper skim latte like I've had from all other staff over the years, I just got attitude with no apology from weekend staff. I have mentioned to others staff I've know over the years that these particular staff members need more training. Anyway, today I went there and she refused to serve me because I mentioned to another staff member yesterday that she requires more training. The owner apparently has told staff not to serve me. All I tried to do is give feedback so she could improve, but she obviously can't take constructive criticism. Weekend coffee makers need more training. If you get a nice coffee you are inclined to buy more or dine in. You may think why did I keep going there on the weekend? Well because like I said, it was a hit and miss. Occasionally I got a proper latte. They are in too much of a hurry because I know they can consistently do better however, in this case they seem to think the customer is wrong. Poor management call to do this. I have sent so many customers there but now it will cease. Cleanseness is also a concern. I was standing at the counter when a man came out of the toilet and used the serviettes on the counter to dry his hands. He left water over all the remaining ones, I told the same staff member and she just ignored it. This is a hygiene breach. This just so happened to be the same girl who has an attitude problem towards the customer who just wants consistency.

See the poor response from the owner below.

What a poor response. Never once did I harass any of your staff members. To the contrary, I have told the majority of staff how well they make coffee including yourself. I simply asked if they could make me a proper skim latte, not a flat white with a bit of foam on top. Sorry for expecting consistency. This was NEVER personal. I was was very patient with the girls and they are all lovely girls. As I mentioned before, I was only trying to give constructive feedback. I must say this, and I understand you are trying to protect your reputation however, l have been treated very disrespectfully with attitude from certain members of your staff. I just put it down poor management and training. One more thing, you have lowered yourself to resort to FABRICATED LIES by saying I said the coffee was ...., and the other comment you claim I said about the girls. If the girls heard ....it was obviously from another customer. This is an absolute disgrace.. I don't swear and would NEVER swear at anyone. This just confirms to me that you have no idea. And yes, I have found a nice coffee shop, for all that read this, it's HARVEY'S on doonside Rd. It's amazing, consistent...

Visited today with our dog. Checked with staff inside re seating as all tables outside were occupied - we were advised we could take the corner inside table closest to the door so dog could stay out.

Came inside - dog just took a step inside as we were sitting to settle when a young staff member leaves the coffee machine and comes storming over to us very aggressively saying ‘no dogs inside you need to get out’. Her facial expressions and tone in the way she spoke were very very rude and truly embarrassing for us as customers to be spoken in this manner.

The poor staff member who we originally spoke to then came over to us and made a table for us outside and apologized for her colleagues actions.

When going back inside to place an order it was the rude staff I faced - she was again very ‘stand’ off in her mannerism and tone of speaking . After paying I kindly advised her in future she should be more aware in how she speaks to customers and how she communicates. She then began to offer a very fake apology stating she had already gotten ‘in trouble’ for what had occurred but acknowledged she was aggressive.

It’s a shame this occurred as it was very unnecessary. We take our dog to many many venues therefore knowing what the rules and regulations are with having dogs indoors at food venues.

Definitely will not return nor would I recommend this place - especially NOT as ‘dog friendly’. Hot day and our dog was not even offered...

Today, I took my family on a trip to Sydney Zoo, and before we arrived, we stopped by The Old Boy Café for breakfast. I was genuinely surprised to find such a charming and cozy café in Blacktown. The place had a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in.

The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. They went out of their way to recommend a suitable meal for my daughter, which I deeply appreciated. My partner and I ordered the truffle eggs and the hot pot chorizo—both dishes were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.

The café itself was tastefully decorated with a variety of lush plants that added a refreshing and natural vibe to the space. The coffee was not only brewed to perfection but also presented with an artistic touch—something that is surprisingly rare to find in the local area.

Everything about the café was clean and well-maintained, including the restrooms, which is always a good sign of attention to detail and care. It’s clear that the owners and staff take great pride in what they do.

I highly recommend The Old Boy Café to anyone visiting or passing through Blacktown. It’s a hidden gem that offers great food, lovely coffee, excellent service, and a relaxing ambiance—an experience that truly exceeded my...

It gets busy around 9:30am on weekends (they open at 8:30am) so either come early or be prepared to wait in line for a while. The customer service was really good, started with drinks. Got the iced mocha (with ice cream and whipped cream, optional) and chai latte (loved the cinnamon dusting on the top). They were both rather sweet but I didn’t mind the sweetness. The waffles had this beautiful caramelised crunch to it. However, I wished there was something more ‘special’ about the ingredients. There were only some berries, two scoops of ice cream, a dusting of crushed pistachio, and some maple syrup. The chorizo (a kind of sausage) hot pot was rather hot as the tomato relish was cooked with chili flakes, I don’t recommend this if you can’t take spicy food. Overall, would come back to try other items on the menu, loved the vibes of the cafe, especially the staff!

This turned out to be one of the worst café experiences I’ve had. • The coffee (both cappuccino and chai latte) was honestly the worst I’ve ever had — bland, watery, and completely forgettable. • The poached eggs on the Eggs Benny weren’t poached at all — they were fully boiled inside, making them dry and totally unsuitable for sourdough. • The fish tacos were smothered in three different sauces — all I could taste was sauce, with no freshness or balance. • The French toast was dry, dense, and tough to chew — the complete opposite of how it should be. • To top it off, the service was bland and unfriendly, with zero warmth or welcome. We spent over $75, and not a single thing was enjoyable. Left feeling disappointed and frustrated. Definitely won’t be returning.
