Would a great find. Dog friendly, organic with delicious vegan options. They offer free filter alkaline water, and there's a lovely backyard courtyard with a garden and even hens. Set off a busy road. Although this cafe has a tranquil rustic, friendly casual atmosphere, you feel like you're sitting in a country farm house. There were excellent all-day breakfast choices for vegans, and the variety gluten-free vegan pancakes sounded so tempting. We ordered 2 vegan dishes and fresh juices for our lunch. The plantbased goodness meal is a vegan homemade burger on a lettuce bun, and our other choice was the Zunoodles. The plantbased burger was such a great choice for anyone hungry for a big, healthy, tasty, substantial meal. The dish offered two full sized lentils, sweet potato, carrot, and beetroot burgers topped with a special vegan sauce zero sugar. The fullsized patties were so flavoursome and big, we asked if we could have more sauce to savour the taste. There were homemade pickles with the right balance of sweet meets tart. This was a big, delicious, generous meal with oven baked sweet potato wedges. I definitely recommend it if you're hungry. Our other dish was the Zunoodles with zucchini noodles tossed with grilled asparagus, broccoli, and porcine mushroom drizzled with truffle oil and pesto. Zunoodles is punched with lots of flavour that just melts in your mouth. The freshly squeezed juices were refreshing, and we left very happy and enjoyed our lunch. We highly recommend a visit to...
Read moreIt was my first visit, but I don’t think I will visit again. The food is much more expensive just because it’s organic, but the menu only shows the basic price. To get a proper meal, you have to add sides. For example, the burger doesn’t include the bun; you have to add it separately. Haha, I’ve never seen anything like this before.
We ordered two food items and two coffees. By the time all the food came out and we finished eating, the coffee still hadn’t arrived. Your partner didn’t mention anything about “after meals”, so I went to the barista and said, “We ordered coffee, but it hasn’t come out yet. Can we get it now?”
Then we waited another 15 minutes. The barista brought food to the table next to us but didn’t ask about our coffee. There were only three tables occupied outside, including ours, and it wasn’t a particularly busy time. It was around 1:30 PM, so the lunch rush was over.
After waiting a while longer, I went to the counter, and the owner asked me, “What coffee did you order?” I was so taken aback. If they didn’t know what my coffee was, shouldn’t they have come and asked me earlier? What were they doing for those 15 minutes? I requested a refund. They agreed and then asked for my order number. How am I supposed to know the order number? So I told them the approximate time I paid with my card. Only then did they take out some coins and refund me for coffees Instead of canceling the card transaction, they gave me coins without even asking if...
Read moreAs per other comments, the food is expensive but nothing special. We found the place very dirty, menus are sticky and dirty, water cups and jugs covered with grime. They don't wash the cups, just rinse them. The staff is rude, very. You are not welcomed in and it seems that serving you is a bother to the staff. Like someone wrote we, customers are the one who make it possible for those people to stay in business. I had a very bad and baffling experience with one of the waitresses who kept sending me dirty and angry looks for 15 minutes because I dared say my coffee was the wrong order. I confronted her and received no apologies and was told by another staff member not to complain as at the end I got my order right. My point was not the order mistake, mistakes happen, it's fine, my point was the attitude she had and I explained so. Sitting in a café and being scrutinised angrily by staff while eating is neither a fun, friendly nor an enjoyable experience. We will never come back again. Newtown is popular, lots and lots of eateries, cafes and restaurants with better prices, better food and better attitude. We see many of them come and go, let see how long the Shack is going to be able to afford staying on King Street with such...
