Cafe Woodland can be found on the main strip of shops in Mascot. It’s fresh and bright with its interiors, wooden panelled walls and tables.
If you’re just here for a coffee, order from the counter and you might be tempted by some baked goods. They have campos coffee beans but also do tea, smoothies, milkshakes and fresh cold press juice. We had a camomile tea and an orange, ginger and carrot juice. Very refreshing and healthy.
The menu offers both breakfast and lunch options from granola and avo smash to bacon and egg rolls or eggs Benny. Some more creative options too, like their corn, carrot and zucchini fritters or the miso and sesame mushroom dish might take your fancy. We were here for lunch and I was keen to stay healthy so I opted for the Summer Bowl. This had fresh greens including Brussel sprouts, spinach and some beetroot and pumpkin with preserved lemon dressing, and I chose to add on chicken - a decent serving too.
We also had the peri peri chicken burger - marinated chicken, lettuce and cheese with fennel slaw and a peri peri sauce on a milk bun with a side of crispy fries. A really tasty burger and certainly satisfying.
The service was friendly and efficient. For us, it is a local cafe with a...
Read moreCame here with a Groupon, brunch and coffee for two people for $25. However, we did have to pay an extra $4 at the venue because the Groupon only covers dishes priced at $17 or under (we were aware of this), which is not a problem as I’d say 80% of their dishes are under $17.
Overall, portions sizes are very reasonable, we definitely left very full. I ordered the Corn, Carrot & Zucchini Fritters and it came with the most delicious herb mayonnaise I’ve had. It was very filling, in fact I couldn’t finish it. My partner ordered the Woodland Biggie, and the halloumi was definitely the star of the dish. It was grilled perfectly.
The only disappointing thing were the coffees, as the milk had definitely been heated up a bit too much (it even had a bit of a burnt taste to it). Since I ordered a latte (coffee mug with no handle) and the milk was so hot, I had to wait a good 5 minutes before I could take a sip.
Also, beware seating is very small. We came at 10:15 on a Sunday and there were plenty of tables available, but by 10:45 it was very crowded. Overall, it was a good brunch...
Read moreCame here during lunch break, first time eating here. Went to the counter to tell them I've got a booking and was told to take a seat anywhere. Sat down at a table and waited a few mins but no one came to our table, so I stood up to grab the menus myself.. Ordered the Woodland Biggy and Beef & Chorizo Burger along with two drinks. The waiter who took our orders was friendly and noted down the slight changes we wanted for our dishes. When the waitress (different person) brought our drinks over, unfortunately the Strawberry Milkshake was dripping on one side which she noticed and apologised for. But she did not bring us a napkin to wipe away the drip and we had no napkins on our table, so once again I got up to grab napkins myself.. The main dishes were good serving sizes. Only criticism is that the hash browns were too deep fried and hard as a result, which made them tricky to cut up and eat. At the end there was a small mistake with the bill which I had to point out to...
