I’m extremely disappointed with my repeated experiences at the Tennyson Hotel. On 7 November 2025, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., I played one of the pokies machines and inserted around $700 without receiving a single free spin or payout. Meanwhile, the other machines nearby were working normally and paying out as expected.

This isn’t the first time it’s happened — in fact, it’s occurred around 18 times, and always when the same manager has been on duty. We had a small disagreement about two years ago, which I believed was resolved, but since then, I’ve consistently noticed issues whenever she’s working.

When I approached her about it this time, she didn’t respond or try to help — instead, she turned and went straight into the control room. That kind of behavior is unprofessional and very disappointing.

I hope management investigates this matter seriously, as it raises concerns about fairness and transparency. I won’t be returning unless I see genuine improvements in both the gaming experience and customer...

The food is great for pub fare. The service is pretty good, although I was charged an extra $1.30 for a schooner of Hahn Superdry when it was clearly advertised as $7 for a schooner. To be fair, the barman did offer to refund me but I should not have been overcharged in the first place.

However, my main issue is the smell of cigarette smoke which penetrates the entire venue. Why, in this day and age, are smokers still entitled to smoke inside a venue? Ok, yes, there is a semi-outdoor smoking area but whenever the door to the sports bar is opened, the place fills with cigarette smoke and penetrates the dining area. After spending just 30 minutes in the venue, my clothes stink of smoke and now have to be laundered.

Surely I can't be the only person who has complained about this before. To senior management, this is unacceptable. Please fix this before...

Came here with a group of friends and pretty much most of them ordered steak with chips. I went for chili basil chicken with steamed rice to give it a try.

It took them quite some time to prepare for my order. Even though I placed my order before my friends did, they got their food before me. I reckoned chili basil chicken was a simple dish and it shouldn’t have taken them that long.

I was hungry by the time my food was served and it was delicious. The portion was decent given the price. The minced chicken was flavorful yet a tad oily.

After we finished our meal we had banoffee pie. It was surprisingly good and the portion was huge as well. It was rich and creamy to my liking, not overly sweet for a dessert. I just couldn’t get enough of it.
