Yanni's Al Basha Shawarma Charcoal Chicken & Kebab — Restaurant in Sydney

Horrible customer service from Sarmed. I had called the shop to order nine plates the day before and then reconfirmed the pick-up times on the morning after as well, to which he said everything was all good for pick-up. Once I had arrived, he forgot my order and told me I had to wait whilst they made my order (which took an awfully long time) as he assumed I would be late…? Further, I was met with more unprofessional behaviour and service when Sarmed insisted that I was wrong despite confirming the times twice. He rudely denied his mistake, shifted the blame onto me in front of my family and customers, and told me to cancel my order if I didn’t want wait.

As the other staff were trying to prepare my order, he continuously interrupted them to attend to the orders of other customers despite them being after me which testifies to his lack of professionalism. He was also meant to put the salad in a separate container yet he didn’t tell the workers to do so.

Having been going to this place for over 10 years with efficient and reliable staff, I am beyond disappointed with the quality of communication and professionalism today and will not be going here again. He should learn to be professional, systematic with customer times, and admit his mistakes rather than arguing with a customer. 0/10

UPDATE: So now after leaving a review, I am again being BLAMED for the business’ wrongs in the reply to my initial review. It is so beyond unprofessional to respond to my review again believing I was in the wrong. I had called TWICE to confirm the pick up time and even showed up 15 minutes later just to find out the food hadn’t even started to be prepared. I would’ve been more than happy to wait as long as needed if you just owned up to your mistake and apologised and had a better attitude but instead it was made to seem like I was in the wrong. You cannot just expect customers to wait with a bad attitude. This was one specific worker, the rest are lovely except Sarmad. This is not an exaggeration at all, this is the facts so this is in fact an ACCURATE review. This just shows your inability to accept valid customer feedback. Just to let you know I only leave one star reviews when it’s deserved. Thank you I will never be...

From time to time my parents get the charcoal chicken from here, which is quite nice and comes with garlic sauce too. However, on this occasion they decided to also try the kebabs. Big mistake lol

Ordered 1 chicken and 2 beef kebab (alongside a whole charcoal chicken). Shop lady told us they didn’t have beef, so that’s fine - just the chicken would do, right? Or we can go elsewhere. Then, a man inside tells her to tell us that they have beef. So in that case we’d believe them and continue to order, yes? Again 2 chicken kebabs and one “beef” kebab. While waiting, my father noticed on the menu there was no sign of beef anywhere.

Now we come home, ready to eat, and find that lo and behold, there are 3 lamb kebabs. No chicken kebabs. All 3 are lamb. As far as I know, lamb, chicken and beef are from three different animals :)

It’s not like when we get takeaway we’re going to open the kebab wraps and check to see it’s the right meat. It should be a given to trust the shop to give you the right thing, or even close enough.

Gaslighting your customers to get orders and then getting it wrong is very not on. Don’t tell your customers you have beef when you don’t. And how do you mistake a chicken kebab for lamb? And lamb is absolutely different to doner beef - we weren’t born yesterday.

The kebab themselves were not great either, and I tried it to see if the lamb was any good. Personally don’t like lamb in general and the rest of my family likes chicken/beef kebabs (which is why we didn’t order and intend to get lamb). Quite dry meat and the wrap was so-so.

At least I could still eat the charcoal...

Just ordered two sharwarma plates through uber mixed lamb & chicken.. UNBELIEVABLE 😮‍💨 I’ve had many sharwarma around Sydney and this is by far THE BEST IVE HAD IN SYDNEY! the attention to detail and care right down to the amazing packaging and the generous serving of salads, chips, sauces like it really was 10/10 amazing! The meat was so fresh melt in my mouth like I’ve had some sharwarma places serve me dried up old meat like u could just tell it was fresh served they toasted the wrap slightly so you could still enjoy the fresh bread with a little crisp.. even the chips were beautiful and crispy and fresh! I just could not fault this at all.. the salad cucumber the dressing and the freshness gave me a cleansed palette with eating the plate! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I’m a content creator with 33.7k followers and I can’t wait to recommend this place to everyone and even my family because I was blown away how good it was

Best garlic sauce as well I could literally eat a whole tub of it just by itself with bread it...
