I have been to restaurant before, and I would say food-wise, I would rate it as average for the times I visited in the recent past. However, today I encountered a unique experience here at this place that I thought to write about.
My 6 year old kid, while being near the restaurant, needed to go to the toilet. All of a sudden, she just could not hold any longer! Many parents like me must have faced such issues - nothing special.
Without much option in the vicinity, I took her to this restaurant. At the front door, I told the situation to a waiter, who took us to the washroom. As the child was in the washroom and I remained standing outside. At that time, a staff from the restaurant approached me and said with quite some stern attitude that this is not acceptable and I must not come to use the toilet. I explained the situation again to this guy (assuming that he might not know it the background) and also informed that I came in with the permission at the front door of the restaurant. Then, this Mr. Attitude with his stern tone said - "Your kid is your problem - not my problem, and you manage it whatever way you want, but don't come here for use of toilet." I was just utterly dumbfounded as his lines kept ringing in my ears! The kid came out just a moment before these lines were uttered, and she simply got very saddened as she heard. She felt that it was just her fault that her father just got openly chastised ..... when returning humiliated from this place, as I was silent, the child kept asking me about the treatment her dad received - "Why was the guy so angry for me using the toilet, Daddy?" "I am sorry, Daddy - I will not cause such trouble to you again!", etc. etc. More than the guy' comments, the child's innocent questions/remarks really gave me some deep pinch somewhere within me.
Well, people are commenting and reviewing on the food here about whether or not "Zac's Great Food" is great (!) while some are also highlighting your bad attitude-issue! I feel the latter group of people are flagging some real issue with this restaurant - "Zac's Great Food" does have behavioural issues and the staff can really treat people miserably !
For me, as I hear or see your restaurant's name, more than food, I will remember this incident for sure in the coming time. I will also certainly keep wondering how a client-facing business can be so openly rude to people esp. for reasons relating to children! This is...
Read moreMy recent visit to Zac's Restaurant over the weekend was an enjoyable experience, and I'd like to share my thoughts. This restaurant is known for serving some of the best Afghan cuisine in Western Sydney, and it certainly lived up to its reputation.
We ordered both the non-veg and veg platters to get a taste of the variety the restaurant had to offer. The non-veg platter was a delightful surprise. The chapli kebab was a standout; it had an exceptional taste that left my taste buds craving for more. The skewers, chicken, afgani bread, and chips that accompanied the platter were all delicious and perfectly complemented the kebab. However, the biryani, which included mutton pieces, was not up to par. The mutton pieces were not as tasty as expected, which was a bit disappointing.
On the other hand, the veg platter was a pleasant surprise. It featured a mix of momos, biryani, paneer, chips, and salad. The taste of the dishes was quite good, and it's clear that the chefs at Zac's know how to prepare a variety of Afghan and Indian-inspired dishes. The flavors were rich and satisfying.
My only qualm during the visit was the pricing. While the quality of the food was commendable, I couldn't help but feel that the dishes were on the pricier side. Given the flavors and the portions, I expected the pricing to be a bit more reasonable. That being said, I would still recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a unique Afghan dining experience in Western Sydney.
In summary, Zac's Restaurant offers some of the best Afghan cuisine in the area, with standout dishes like the chapli kebab and a variety of other tasty options. While the pricing may be a bit high, the overall experience and flavor of the food make it a...
Read moreI went to Zac's because I have only limited experience of Afghani food and I thought I would treat my parents to something a little different for a pre-Christmas dinner. My curiosity was rewarded beyond any reasonable expectation.
The staff were friendly and professional, and despite the rush, the service was pretty quick.
The food was phenomenal.
Quantity is important, and the servings were generous, but the flavours were just sublime. We feasted on the Bbq biryani; perfectly cooked chicken, lamb and beef, the meat lightly spiced so as to entice flavour (not overwhelm it), backed by a wonderfully flavoursome biryani rice.
In as much as the Bbq Biryani was brilliant, even that was outmatched by the Qabli Pilaf - an assortment of flavour that melted in the mouth, an absolute must.
The atmosphere was a little loud, but it was that 'family' kind of loud that good eating with good company invites - it didn't really detract from the experience and actually added a bit of convivial charm.
In short, the only trouble we found was the somewhat greedy and decadent desire to be able to eat even more of the delicious food!
Thank you folk, much obliged!
