IL Colosseo — Restaurant in Taree

Was just visiting for the wkend and pulled in to 'IL Colosseo' as it was on our way back to accommodation. Got a brochure from the doorway and had a look in the car. As there were ppl in the store we assumed they were open, but to our surprise upon trying to slide the door open it was locked a man then came out of the restaurant side and abruptly stated 'we aren't open till 5pm' and as if that wasnt rude enough to then say 'Its written right in front of you on the door' 'And its on the brochure you just got too' !

In all honesty I wasn't looking for a business trading time on the brochure I was looking at the prices and pizzas, when you have hungry kids & you see ppl in a store behind the counter you just assume at that time they are open !!! My wife and I were recently driving back to Brisbane from Sydney and decided to drop into Taree and try out Il Colosseo - having searched for a decent place to eat instead of the typical roadhouse servos. We were not disappointed. Sophie welcomed us in and the smell of the restaurant just reminded us of a classic Italian eatery. Simple decor but nice and welcoming. The pizza range is terrific and we went for the Tropicana (Sophie’s recommendation) and the meat lovers. Wow! We made the right decision to stop in here. The pizzas were thin based, cooked perfectly and very generous with the toppings. Accolades to Rob the owner and his staff. Thoroughly recommend Il Colosseo and take the small detour into Taree - it’s worth the detour and the food and service was fantastic. They know how to make pizza. Thank you...

Disgraceful service, we arrived at 5pm to an empty restaurant and a booking sheet with only 3 bookings on it. There was no hello from the shabbily dressed guy who just grumbled "have you got a booking" to which we said no. The response was simply "we prefer bookings so we know how many pizzas to make" and a few other things under his breath. Are you serious? So my wife, two young kids and I sat down, the lady behind the counter was extremely busy, making coffees for the staff, and the rude guy was making his own dinner. After 10 minutes we left after giving them a serve to which there was no reaction. They're obviously doing so well they can afford to treat customers that badly. Do yourself a favour and walk...
