After ordering and sitting for an hour my partner and I wondered if we were ever going to be fed. Sure enough over an hour later an ice cold chicken burger and steak made their way to our table. To put things in perspective here I think this is my 4th review in 15 years so you can see where I’m going. I asked for a new burger which was promptly brought to me but once again ice cold (and I’m sure full of spit given the look from the wait staff). The mash potato was 100% packet just add water for over $30. I just don’t understand how you can charge the prices you are without providing even a B- service. Must be nice monopolising a small tourist town, one can only dream… please do not go here, head 20m down the road and get a pizza because this establishment is one of the worst places I’ve eaten in my time on...

We just arrived for dinner at 8.05pm (no, not ten past or quarter past - it really was five past eight) Their website said they were open until 10pm. But when we arrived, we were told that the kitchen closes at 8pm. “Is there any chance we can order something even though it’s 5 minutes later” we asked. “No. The kitchen closes at 8pm precisely” we were told. We explained that we had just driven 4 and a half hours. Couldn’t they overlook 5 minutes? “No. The kitchen is closed” was the firm reply. Well if this is how this place does business - and how they provide customer service, they have lost ours over the duration of our stay in such a beautiful part of the world. Yes it was 5 minutes AFTER 8pm, but that is pretty pathetic hospitality. And delivered without a pinch of...

One star on all fronts – particularly regarding the service from the chef. When a member of the waiting staff enquired about the extent to which my meal had been cooked, the chef was abusive towards them, audible to the entire restaurant. The chef displayed neither decorum nor respect for anyone – neither staff nor customers. I was disappointed with the meal, but even more so that the chef's behaviour went unchecked. It may be that this chef and the behaviour the staff are forced to put up with is a product of staffing challenges; however, there is no excuse for someone who lacks such basic decency. As a local, I will be enjoying a meal elsewhere and recommending that others...

Dinner here was certainly a highlight of our trip! Upon stumbling by this restaurant at Coles Bay, we were completely dumbfounded by the level of high-quality service and food we received. From entree to dessert, each dish was beyond exceptional and this is coming from my father (who was a chef). The medium-rare steak was juicy, smoky, and cooked to perfection. I would say it even outshines high-end steak houses in Hobart. Other dishes such as the lamb shanks or curry are also worth trying out. If you’re ever passing by Coles Bay, I would definitely recommend dinner here.

Food was really great, which surprised us given the location and how low-key it seemed. We went back twice in a row for dinner, had the white bait, the octopus and the beetroot risotto (seasonal item) - the beetroot risotto was so unexpectedly refreshing and delicious. The octopus was the best I’ve had (very sensibly cooked and not overly charred like many places, including fine-dining restaurants). Also tried the oysters, buffalo wings, slow cooked lamb and buratta. Overall pretty impressed with the consistent quality of food at this place.

This pub does good pub food, it is a good meal and reasonably priced. We did order the Mexican parmigiana and the special, Porterhouse Steak Both were cooked well and enjoyable meals I also ordered hot wings or American style wings. I didn't particularly enjoy these. Enjoyable bistro though, good range of inside or outside seating. Parking available. Wait staff were helpful and friendly. If you are in Freycinet for few nights, worth adding to the list of places to have a meal (there is only about to choose from)
