A Sunset Dining Delight

Located in the heart of Freycinet National Park, Geographer offers a vibrant dining experience that seamlessly blends casual ambiance with top-notch culinary execution. Whether you’re exploring the nearby trails or simply looking to relax after a day of adventure, this restaurant’s enticing menu and picturesque sunset views make it a must-visit.

One of the standout dishes on the menu is the Chili Salt & Pepper Calamari, served with a side of crispy fries, a fresh garden salad, and a tangy chili mayo dipping sauce. The calamari is lightly coated, retaining its tenderness beneath the crunchy exterior. The subtle heat from the chili flakes enhances the overall flavor without overwhelming the delicate seafood taste. Paired with the satisfying crunch of the fries and the bright acidity of the salad, this dish is both comforting and invigorating.

Equally impressive is the Pulled Pork Pizza, which features succulent, slow-cooked pork atop a thin, wood-fired crust. The pork is generously portioned and harmonizes beautifully with the melted cheese and tangy tomato sauce. A sprinkle of fresh spring onions and crispy fried shallots adds contrasting textures and a hint of sweetness that elevates each slice. The crust itself strikes the perfect balance between soft and chewy, reflecting the skillful hand of the kitchen.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Geographer sets it apart. The dining area boasts a relaxed, open layout where you can watch the sky transform with the setting sun. Sipping on a local Tasmanian beer or a glass of wine while admiring the scenery truly enhances the experience. Though the flavors alone merit a solid 9 out of 10, the breathtaking sunset vista over Freycinet’s rugged landscape turns a great meal into a memorable one.

For those seeking a flavorful, laid-back meal amidst the natural splendor of Freycinet National Park, Geographer delivers on all fronts. The quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and unbeatable views make this a dining destination worthy of any food...

Not usually one to leave negative reviews but our time at geographe was basically a comedy of errors topped off with poor customer service.

We were forgotten and not given menus, then our order was lost, then 40 minites later finalllyyyy brought out but they were incomplete, sides specifically requested on the side were cooked into the wrap and our coffees totally forgotten. The food was okay, but nothing special, not even butter for the toast.

Whilst we were waiting we also witnessed a waitress dip her finger in butter she was delivering to a table and lick it off her finger. There were also several other people receiving wrong orders around us.

Probably the worst part of all was there was never once an apology or an admission that something had gone astray.

The garden and deck setting is cute and the coffee we had up in the main cafe was delicious. You have to order take aways down in the garden and the coffee there when we had it the day before was not nearly as good.

Maybe we just caught them on a bad day with new staff (several of the staff members seemed to be international travellers) and you'll have a better experience but unfortunately I can't justify giving a better review to what was ultimately a disappointing experience. I left wishing I had just cooked a peice of toast in my...

I’m not fond of complaining but I was just so disappointed. Popped into n the lovely little cafe a couple of days before and was greeted by a friendly Scottish lady wonderful service!! I popped back in this morning hoping for the same no greeting today grabbed a table out front and waited to place my order. 10 minutes go by I’m not to bothered just figure they a busy. 3 more groups arrive seated orders taken still no one, as you can imagine I’m stating to get ireatable so pop my head ask if someone could take my order? Be right there the rude French girl says, another 10 minutes pass she comes out I order. Foods arrives before my coffee. Ordered a long mac end up with what’s looks to be a double strength latte. By this point I don’t care I eat my breakfast which was very nice leave the coffee head in to pay. Paying the bill the brisita asked how the coffee was he wasn’t really sure how to make a long mac!!! I told him how I would do it and walked away shaking my head. I’m a chef been in the industry for 18 years so I don’t have a lot of time for bad service and that is what it was. The food was great and I’m sure with more staff training the service could be to. I hate walking away...

Our aioli came curdled/ with a skin on it so we didnt feel comfortable eating that. The chips were fine and in a good serving size but the menu said 'seasoned chips' and the seasoning was just salt. The pizza was very overpriced and tasted like frozen pizza put through a wood fired oven. For an almost $30 pizza, we expected a lot better. The lady at the counter wasn't able to speak English very well and seemed surprised we wanted to order food. She was quite confused on our drink order (gin and tonic(she said the only gin they had was jack daniels and we somehow ended up with a Sprite)). They didn't seem to have much of any alcohol available despite being on the menu. We'd recommend saving your money and just getting 2 minute noodles from the petrol station for dinner instead. Also the online order QR code didn't work.

EDITED : I went for a second time around 7pm Ordered the Asian squid again and this time the salad looks old wet and was smaller portion than the previous one I got (I know they put dressing on it) but this one look old like it was prepared during the day and I came at 7pm. If that was the case they can compensate by the Squid but nope. The squid portion is also smaller then the lunch time I ordered before. I got around 6 (5 small pieces) while on the picture I provided I got all big ones. I wish they can be more consistent with the portion. If the salad is bad, they shouldn’t give small pieces of squids too. Original Post (with 5 stars) : I went here for my lunch and dinner and all the food were nice. Very recommended! My personal pick will be the squid with chips and salad. Very nice place and good location too 😃
