I want to write a good review but let's say it's complicated. I have been here quite a few times in the past couple of months and while fun hour is a blast (Friday nights and weekends) during the week for lunch is somewhat disappointing. While I look to consider myself as somewhat easy to please with a pub meal, I have to say I have had nothing but disappointment with the food. The buns are stale, 3 out of 3 times. They are clearly defrosted and not fresh, that brings a somewhat dried out texture to the bun and overall burger experience. The burger, clearly also frozen with as much taste as cardboard with a small hint of flavoured marker. The chicken burger was better, but the freshness is not there, even with the minimal seasoning. Honestly don't come here for the food, $26 for a burger is not good value. My friend had the pork taco's , again $26 with dried out wraps, minimal pork and disappointing amount of quantity meant he was still hungry after 3 measly taco's. I want to like this place, atmosphere is good, location is awesome, vibe can be inviting but the food continues to be a huge disappointment for what should be a great destination for you and your friends. Eat elsewhere, come here for a drink, or head in with very low expectations. Hope someone reads this and makes the change to provide the basics for a good customer experience. Its easy right? Fresh buns delivered from a local bakery, and don't be lazy, it's really not hard to make burgers internally at scale and make them delicious. Parma was ok, but again a simple dish to add some flare to, very boring. Make the simple pub classics something better than ordinary so next time I want to come back and meet people for a meal and not apologise how rubbish the food is. We all laughed at your $39 rib special after the meal, imagine paying that for the rubbish we were all served. I came here for a beer with a view, and food just needs to be adequate, but experience was far below minimal expectations. In Summary - Come here for the beer knowing we are at the higher end of costs. Eat somewhere else but enjoy the atmosphere. I love when they put a on live music and fun happens. Thanks...
Read moreBe very careful, the items listed as gluten free on the menu ARE NOT GLUTEN FREE.
We had 4 in our party who require gluten free food and had booked a function here. We had meetings with the venue to confirm that we would receive GF food and were given assurances that this would happen. Straight up, cheese boards come out and they have gluten containing crackers on them touching the other food. Wait staff didn't seem to know we needed GF, apologised and replaced them. Next, wait staff come out to tell us that two of the items due to come out, that are listed on the menu as GF, are actually not GF. I pointed out to the waitress that they say they're GF on the menu... Waitress tells us the chef says they shouldn't say they're GF. Well mate, they do. Grilled squid comes out and we're assured that it's GF... It wasn't. We're given a pizza and told it's GF... Again, it wasn't.
The result? I spent the night before my birthday trying to sleep through stabbing pains in my stomach, and then my whole birthday trying not to vomit. We didn't ask for GF because it's a cool fad, we asked for it, and got assurances that we would receive it, because eating gluten makes us very sick. Just because the waitstaff and chef don't feel like it's important doesn't make it any less important for those who need it. Terrigal Beach House should count itself very fortunate that none of us suffer anaphylaxis from gluten because the sight of a person being put into the recovery position whilst someone else stabs them with an epi-pen can't be good for business.
Avoid this place like the plague. It's a very expensive way to get sick.
Finally, a message for Terrigal Beach House, allergies are serious. You can kill people with your cavalier attitude. People don't ask for allergen free food for fun, they do it for their...
Read moreI tried to get in here on Friday night but the security was completely unreasonable. It was around 9 or so at night still letting people in, I was the driver that night driving my friends around who were orderly and had had some drinks prior but showing no signs of intoxication and were responsible, compliant aswell we all had ID and had signed in. Security hands me back my ID and asks where I had been tonight, I had been all over around the coast ( Greenpoint, Springfield, patonga, Woy Woy, Gosford, lisarow) and to no hotspots but it took me a second to think and after literally 2 seconds was announced as intoxicated as I was supposedly unable to answer and was banned from entering the venue for 24hrs. I have a functioning RSA and work at a pub currently, have talked to many security guards with years of experience about this and are stumped at the turnout of this "altercation". What I'm saying is that I was not a threat not showing signs of intoxication but for some reason was not allowed into this venue and am decently annoyed because I was supposed to meet with friends there. Furthermore we were let into other venues in the same condition (Mumbo Jumbos imediately afterwards in Terrigal and later the Bayview hotel in Woy Woy) which means that the initial assessment of this security guard was garanteed to have been a failure.
Thankyou for replying to me, I definitely understand it is not your fault as the owner, but I just thought you could have more coherent security that do their job the best they can. Sadly I have experienced too many times where security has been unpleasant and unequal waivering their "job" over a lot of customer's enjoyment. I can definitely admit there are some nice guards there it's just that they seem to be...
