Located just behind the Crown Plaza Terrigal is Once Again Asian eatery With seating for approximately 75 + ( and a small separate private function room ) all Styled in modern black decor with hints of deep velvet green, the main seating area is a lovely large sunroom styled area with glass louvre windows, and the other side there is also seating with a bar with a rather large drinks menu.
I was greeted and shown to my table promptly. It was quite warm in the restaurant but the waiter opened the louveres and a lovely sea breeze was blowing in and cooling everything down.
Table water was served but unfortunately it warm and unpleasant.
The menu includes a vegetarian section and quite a good and broad range of everything else, which is mostly Thai style food ( turned on it head ) and served deconstructed/ semi al la carte style.
The salt and paper tofu was cooked well, crunchy and served with a delicious thick rich satay sauce but the tofu alone was tasteless and no salt and pepper to be seen nor tasted. If it had not been served with the side of satay it would of been very ordinary. The serve consisted of 12 small triangles. ( $20 )
The roti was a serving of 2 and was accompanied by a small serving of satay sauce. ($9)
The won ton soup was surprisingly very hot and spicy, ( which is not mentioned on the menu ) the wontons were soft and flavourful but the broth just too hot, serving size was 4 wontons in a medium bowl of the spicy broth with a few vegetables ( onion, baby pak choy, red radish, Swiss brown mushroom and sesame seeds, coriander and chilli garnishes ( $25 )
The satay chicken was nice. It was very soft and tender. The serving size was fairly small, it came with 1 roti, a serving of satay sauce, 1 chicken thigh, 4 slices of cucumber and a few pickled daikon ribbons. ( $35 )
The pork ribs although delicious did not taste of sweet and sour whatsoever but were flour coated and deep fried/ crispy and delicious with a very light coat of sauce but it was enough, But this dish was a rather poor choice as it was a very hard dish to eat in a fine dining restaurant without making a big mess and near impossible to eat with a knife and fork. Delicious but not the most elegant of choices. ( but they do bring you baby wipes ) ( $39 ) I definitely don’t recommend this dish if on a date or special occasion. This is the kind of dish you need to eat alone when no one is watching lol.
Alcohol drinks were priced on the high side, standard nip drinks at $12 -$17 each. Beer from $10+ Cocktails $25+, non alcohol/ soft drink from $6, juice $7, Water $6+.
The Service was professional and attentive by all staff I encountered.
The Music was a mix of 70’s/80’s classic hits and played at a very low level but as the restaurant filled you could barely hear the music at all as the noise of diners took over.
Suitable for a quiet dinner for 2 or right through to a medium function or party.
The restaurant was very clean and tidy in every aspect.
Overall it was a middle of the road dining experience. It wasn’t overly great but wasn’t overly bad either.
Bookings are essential ( with credit card )
Medium to high pricing.
Would I return .. possibly. Would I...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Once Again Terrigal - Asian Eatery, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant’s modern Asian decor, combined with its cozy ambiance, set the perfect tone for the evening.
The menu offered a delightful array of dishes, each more tempting than the last. I decided to start with the eggplant dish, which came highly recommended. It did not disappoint! The eggplant was perfectly cooked, with a rich, flavorful sauce that left me wanting more. For the main course, I opted for the Thai green curry, which was equally impressive. The balance of spices and the freshness of the ingredients made it a standout dish.
The service was impeccable. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, always ready to offer suggestions and ensure that my dining experience was top-notch. The wine list was extensive, and the staff helped me choose the perfect pairing for my meal.
Overall, Once Again Terrigal exceeded my expectations. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit. Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner spot or a place to celebrate with friends, this restaurant is sure to impress.
I hope this gives you a good sense of what to expect! If you have any specific questions about the menu or the dining experience,...
Read moreFood was very good as were the smiling ‘friendly staff ‘ however we booked and advised we had a 3 year old. Unfortunately we were seated in the entry where a pot plant would have been more suitable! We asked to move but the ‘ friendly’ staff refused our requests repeatedly. We were all hot and the 3 year old should have had sun cream on as heat transfer through the glass was very hot. I have fair skin and melanomas removed. We were not advised we would be in the sun. If so we could have booked elsewhere. We also had to put up with cigar smoke from the table for two on the other side of the glass window outside. Never go back as you showed no concern for us or a vulnerable child. Very poor customer service. You know that spot gets sun so have the common courtesy to inform customers when they book prior or does making money override any concerns you have...
