I’m really disappointed if I’m honest. This is a pub we used to go to for years. We recently travelled back to Toc after 10 years for a family getaway and decided to head to Farmers Arms for the nostalgia and because we remembered it being one of the better pubs in Toc. We didn’t expect it to be the same, since it’s been such a long time, but I was certainly not expecting the terrible customer service. First of all we called to confirm what time the kitchen closed because we wanted to sure we could eat, they advised me 9pm… Then we organised the shuttle bus (which took 4 phone calls mind you), which never turned up - we decided to walk, which is fine, but it would have been better if we were told they were simply too busy to use the shuttle rather than just not coming at all. When we arrived it was 8:15, and we went straight to the kitchen and asked if we could have a table… to which we were told the kitchen had closed and there was nothing we could do (this is putting it nicely, the woman was actually very rude). My partner then asked again and questioned why we were then told it closed at 9pm, to which a gentlemen advised us he could “squeeze us in” but we are only able to order Parmas. We said thank you so much and the woman who previously served us told us that “we need to consider ourselves lucky”… just total unnecessary attitude .. considering we were being so kind. The food was average. Then when we went home, we took the courtesy bus … which I can’t even be bothered getting in to because the woman who drove us made it apparent how much she did NOT want to take us… we even said don’t worry we will walk.. but she huffed and puffed and said “don’t worry I’ll drive you”… like she was being held against her will. I’m not sure if this pub just hates tourists and the have a country town mentality where they only want their locals hanging out there… but I will never go back there again. I felt disrespected the entire time and really uncomfortable. The bar staff were friendly and kind, but the two women serving food and driving the bus, were really unkind… maybe a bad night at work.. but come on, respect your...
Read moreAbsolutely thoroughly disappointed . Haven't been here for years as had heard a few , word of mouth bad reviews. But, decided to meet friends here and give it a go. Never again Both of us couples ordered same thing, same time , same table . Ours came out 23 minutes AFTER our friends . That's a no no in food service . Waitress was nice & very apologetic , but meal was very bad. Ordered Asian stir fry , which was on specials board , but still pricy at $28 Description, eye fillet steak , bok Choy sweet peas, capsicum carrot in Asian sauce. Friends came out first , like l said She ordered same, and it was just a big bowl of Hokein noodles swimming in oil I actually went in to see them and said, no mention of Noodles in description and l don't eat them . So very nice girl said she would speak to kitchen , and how did l want it. I said, exactly as described on the board. Came out.. 20 mins later, a tiny bit of beef on a hot coleslaw mix, cabbage (no mention on board) capsicum, carrot .. still no bok Choy or peas . Only ate the meat , which was ok, but for the price .. very very average. The 2 men ordered steak sandwich , at $24 was very average . It had like a paper thin sliver of steak in a big Turkish bun. All quite tasteless. They weren't busy, only a few others were eating so the time it took for 2nd meal was not...
Read moreWe had a meal at the Farmers Arms last year, when we were passing through Tocumwal. The bangers and mash appealed to me - comfort food! Well… my meal was way, way beyond comfort food. It was the best bangers and mash I’d ever had. So good, in fact, that the next day we stopped in Finley to buy the very same sausages that the Farmers Arms sourced. Tonight, again stopping overnight in Tocumwal, I was keen to have the bangers and mash again. Alas, the dish was not on the menu. So after a good look at the menu, I ordered the lamb shoulder. If I was served this meal at any fine dining restaurant, I would be very, very happy. The dish is absolutely perfect. If you are anywhere near Tocumwal, you MUST go to the Farmers Arms, especially if you love wonderful food. There’s a busy pub vibe going on and the staff are...
