It pains me to write this review, because I’ve relied on and been a Jashn customer for over 10 years (and have had their food at least once a fortnight on average). For the most part Jashn has been putting out solid and reliable Indian food but over the last few weeks in particular, the cuisine has been less appetising… and quality has been slipping down hill, fast. Last night I may have received the most disappointing butter chicken known to man. Watery, bland and warm - bordering on a mere broth, with absolutely no decipherable taste. The naan was a dried out, thin, burnt wafer - it more closely resembled lavosh and not the fluffy delicious bread it’s supposed to be. As a big fan of the lamb saag, I’ve also noticed this dish hasn’t escaped the chopping block of compromise and has unfortunately now become a cacophony of watery brown sauce and over cooked pucks of lamb - no spinach green brightness, no undertones of cardamom… just dried out lamb in another nondescript brown sauce. The Bollywood chicken dish - just a chicken tikka stew is not remotely memorable nor remotely deserving of the Bollywood association/name. I hope whatever is happening in the kitchen (new chefs/cooks, cheaper ingredients?) is fixed really soon. Jashn was once bulletproof Indian cuisine, the type you couldn’t get outside of a capital city but now it’s just a sadly another regional, strip shop take away...
Read moreDo not order takeaway from this restaurant. Ordered online at 6.35pm was advised it would be delivered at 7.35pm. $35 for a rice, some naan and a butter chicken, and delivery. 8pm rolls around still no food, so I call, the lady informs me that “your food is ready but it’s sitting there waiting for a delivery driver, can you come and pick it up?” I say no thanks, I paid for delivery for a reason, She tells me “it will be delivered in 5-10 minutes”. 8.30pm rolls around still no food so I call again, “oh yes it’s with the driver now but he has lots of other deliveries to do” Who knows how long the food sat around for, lied to by the lady who answered the phone, and charged $7 for delivery that was over an hour late, 5mins from the restaurant. Order from this restaurant at your own risk, I won’t be ever again and neither will my friends and family. Costly mistake...
Read moreNaan was good, the curries, very ordinary to Indian standards, ordered biryani, tasted nothing like it, it was rice mixed in left over tamarind chicken curry, heated up and served, when asked about it, the guy at the counter says it is cooked in Bombay style and they apparently do a easy version of it because not many customers have it(Quality red light!). Hands down the worst I've had in a while.
Called and booked a corner table so we could park our baby's pram, when we arrived we were told someone had already occupied it and they couldn't do anything about it but give us a table in the middle isle, caused a lot of inconvenience to everyone to move about in the crammed space. If somone bothered to call a specify a requirement, you agree and confirm a booking try...
