Like a lot of restaurants in Torquay, this is another must try while you are here. Especially if you are a fan of Ramen
We tried curry Udon and the black garlic ramen. Both were just fantastic dishes. The Udon was a nice thick noodle with a creamy sauce. The black garlic ramen was my favourite dish. The garlic is definitely present but I don't find it overpowering. The colouration is incredible and once stirred it changes from a black to a greyish colour. It's absolutely delicious and one of the best ramen dishes I've had. I really recommend giving this dish a try
The staff are super friendly, there was a bit of a wait but it's a long weekend so it was too be expected. You can see some of the regular customers walking in, being greeted by name and picking up their order. That kind of service with the quality of food is really a great thing to see.
I can't wait to come back on the next...

Firstly, I waited an hour for my table's food to arrive and the quality was still subpar. Secondly, my partner ordered the lobster noodles and the lobster was dry and lacking flavour. This was a $40 dish and honestly I wouldn't even pay $10 for it. To top it off the service was completely atrocious. The kitchen completely missed one of my dishes even though it was right on the receipt. Despite this, none of the staff members had the decency to apologise for the inconvenience. All in all, I strongly suggest that every person who is looking into dining at this restaurant...

Whilst the Tonkotsu Ramen at Sober Ramen was excellent, what stole the show for me was the karaage-style mushrooms, perfectly battered and lightly seasoned to replicate beautifully their meaty counterpart. A downside of living in Japan was the limited catering to vegetarians so this was a real treat for my fiancĂ© who usually cannot eat Japanâs famous fried chicken. I would also highly recommend the miso cauliflower which was also a crowd favourite at the table. I will be back to try Soberâs own specialities in the Truffle Ramen and the Beef Rib Ramen which sounded divine! They also have...
