Ok pies (meaning they fill your stomach) - somewhat bland and dry BUT the pie crust is far too soft as if they microwave them before putting them in the warmer. Pie crusts are not meant to be soft and pliable and falling apart in your hand as you eat them. You get pretty close to the entire pie collapsing in your hands and over you as you try to eat. Big no no if your trying for a quality pie. That’s why they only get 2 stars. Plus they have gone down in quality over the last 4-5 years. There are far better bakeries around - the cook here must not have been in the top 50% of passes that year. This place is an example of what no competition does in a country town and why it’s so easy to pick them off when a good rival sets up shop (as it will as more homes are developed).

What a hidden gem for vegans! They had a menu in the shop that made the vegan options obvious. The food was cheap and delicious, and sugary too. They kept it like a traditional bakery and didn't take the approach of trying to make it taste healthy, like some vegan places do... which is so refreshing! My partner who is non vegan couldn't taste the difference between the vegan and non vegan items. Can't wait until I am in the area again to get more vegan goodies.

Very friendly staff and a nice selection of pies as well as desserts and bakery items. There is a space to sit and talk as well as relax in the room behind the counter area. Pies are pretty good but not the best I have had that is why I gave 3 stars mostly because the "Steak" pies actually only contain mince. We got the Thai chicken pies today which were very flavoursome however the pastry was not very crunchy and a little too soft.

Dropped in on an old memory of a terrific coffee and baked good shop. However : Lemon meringue oh dear, filling sloppy and eggy, meringue extremely airy. Monkey face shortening/ fat overload, and crumbled everywhere after first bite. Vanilla slice ok Coffee : long black poor quality taste, bitter and boiling Almond latte: bitter, burnt undrinkable sadly I had $50 and a five cent coin It cost $23:10 but rather than saying “don’t worry about the missing 5 cents” I got the 90 cents in 5 cent and 10 cents pieces. Overall a new baker and a new barista would be terrific...

My Brother and I were passing through Ballan for work. A work mate said the bakery in Ballan was worth a stop if we were hungry. We had steak, steak and mushroom pies, apple pies, hot jam donuts which were all great and the coffees were excellent. The staff were super friendly, helpful and 'honest'. I was vague enough to leave my bag in the store with my wallet and other personal belongings, had to pick them up the next day. Lovely girls. Thank you Bree. Highly recommended. Support our...
