I had a bad experience tonight at this Vietnamese noodle shop. We spent quite decent amount tonight but at the end got humiliated by the owner (I think she is the owner). My noodle was undercooked and was sent back. As many people, i always nervous when sending food back. 10mins later another bowl was brought out from the kitchen. It tasted spicier and this time was overcooked. One of the meats (cha) tasted old and frozen. I couldn't have too much and had to leave more than half. I was tipping they re-heated the food instead of make new one. My partner asked me if I wanted him to let them know. I was hesitated but said yes. I thought we could tell them how we felt about the food on the way out. In my surprise, my partner brought the noodle bowl back to the counter, talked to a staff and asked for refund. He is a westerner and bellieved if you aren't happy with your food, you should not pay for it. However, I had never wanted refund for this one bowl of noodle soup. I overheard the staff translated to the owner in Vietnamese and immidiately came up to the counter to explain. She got heated quickly when my partner asked for refund and said to the staff in Vietnamese "no refund, I don't earn much money from this bowl of noodle soup. If they didn't like spicy, they should have asked". I don't mind spicy food but the issue was undercooked then overcooked food and old food taste. Her attitude got worse when I came up and said I didn't want a refund and thought the food was re-heated too much and turned overcooked. She then yelled at me in vietnamese that she did make new soup and I had already eaten the food so no refund. She also added aggressively and rudely that I was nothing and my money was worthless. Sorry lady but I work hard and pay tax and went to your shop to support Vietnamese business. I couldn't be bother going to a fight as I respected the elderly in our culture but shook my head and walked out. I don't know if the other customers were at the shop thought we were trouble makers but she did humiliate me in Vietnamese. It's not right to treat your customers like you did tonight. I would have appreciated an apology before she got heated. I still...
Read moreI was taken to the Vietnamese Noodle House only two weeks ago, and have already taken two friends on two occasions since! I've tried the crispy chicken and noodle soup (no.22), the pork and prawn noodle soup (no.19 a must try!) and the Singapore noodles off the main menu, as well as the sugar cane prawns, chicken skewers, dumplings and rice paper rolls off the entree menu and all were delicious. The broth is beautifully aromatic but mild in flavour. And when poured over the generous serving of meat and vegetables, received in a separate bowl (I've only ordered takeaway) it comes alive! Fresh crisp clean flavours that leaving you feeling energised and the good type of full! Mains average around $10 to $13 and between $3 and $6.50 for entrees. Very affordable even...
Read moreNever had a problem with this wonderful establishment. Yes, it’s not fancy, but like if you went to a Vietnamese market, the food is good and there is a lot of it. I just had a joke with the staff that they could never be accused of under feeding anyone. They had to put a rubber band around my takeaway honey chicken there was so much of it. Now the bad point. Not a restaraunt thing, but a jab at the Ballarat Council. Come at least 15 mins earlier than you plan, because that’s how long it will take to find a parking spot in this badly planned part of town, or to walk the extra couple of blocks from where you end up parking. Worth the...
