Great pub. Food is yum, and if you have to wait a bit longer than normal (I never have - but have read comments here that state otherwise), perhaps people should be mindful that the food is made with love, is made fresh to order and they want to make sure it's perfect. These guys put their heart and soul into running this awesome country pub, you can tell they live and breathe it. Beware of bad reviews from cranky locals that don't like change! Great selection of drinks from tap beer, local wines to high-end spirits. Only downside is that once I'm there I don't want to leave!! One of those places you can sit for hours, chatting to locals, reading the paper, playing pool, watching the footy, reading a book, whatever you fancy......it's ace. Last time we were there, a live country band was playing in the courtyard in the afternoon and they were fantastic!! You can also catch some pretty big names in the rock and roll world in the band room Friday and Saturday nights - worth checking the website or calling the pub to find out who's playing. Props to the team that make this place tick....

This would have to be the worst, most hectic dining experience ever!!! Understand totally that it’s a long weekend, but, you are in this industry and should be well prepared! Ran out of glasses for Champagne! We were told we could not order cocktails as it was too busy!! No glasses for water, only the bottle of water!! 5 knives-1 fork-no serviettes. Had to ask twice for the basics. 1 hour after ordering, still missing 2 entrees. 10 mins after that, the mains finally arrive. It is no good, apologising, then offering glasses for water 1 hour later… It is not the diners obligation to make you feel better for your inability to look after your dining patrons. The bar was packed to capacity, and it appeared that you were only interested in filling up patrons in the bar…… I hate having to write this, and have never given feedback before, but this was totally unprofessional. Not even the courtesy of offering a discount. Next time, we will head into Castlemaine and look for a better venue. Very very...

Just dined here during a trip up from Melbourne and it was really good. Don't let the quiet exterior fool you. It is super busy and bustling inside. They serve food all day and the food was really one of the best pub food we've had and better than most pubs we've tried in Melbourne. The steak was cooked perfectly and had the best char on it and served with green beans and whole chat potatoes (none of that chips and salad nonsense) and the natural jus/sauce that it was in was SO tasty from the caramelised onions. The nachos was good but be warned, has a real chili kick to it. The Parma and pesto pasta was also really good. Portions are very generous.

Plus point the outdoor seating has a nice wood fireplace going during the colder months and a small sand area with toys for kids to play in. Would recommend this...

Loved our Sunday session at the Bridge Hotel in Castlemaine. We arrived just before opening at 1pm and took a seat out the front under the vines to wait to be ushered in to our booked table in the beer garden. We ordered the food and drink from the bar and had food brought to our table. The vibe was lovely and relaxed. I had a gorgeous local Amaro spritz to start and ate a delicious scallop starter special, croquettes and pop corn cauliflower. Mains were well cooked and served in good time. We had lamb which was moist and tender. A great community is apparent and the bathrooms and halls are filled with exciting band posters making me want to visit more often! Would definitely recommend for a great afternoon or evening meal or just a drink or three.

Extremely relaxing and well loved hotel. Quality band playing today "Fulton Street" from Melbourne who soothed my soul with soul and jazz. The courtyard is so cosy and aesthetically pleasing. 🌿 Exceptional for kids with sandpit, and dogs are allowed, very lovely to observe. An amazing variety of food and very good servings. Caters to vegans and vegetarians. Wine variety of good quality and locally sourced. A venue I will definitely return to for friendly atmosphere, music and delicious food.

We stopped in for lunch today on a day trip from Melbourne. Great little pub and garden bar, with super friendly service. Really impressed with the range of craft beers, fizzers on tap and solid non alcoholic options. We ate light and had the chicken and mushroom bao and shared some pub chips. Heaps of classic pub fare on the menu and a loaded Parma that I’ll have to come back for, and would love to check out some live music too. Great pub, and a much visit in Castlemaine.
