Landed in Maffra today. Looking for Coffee and Lunch. Most of the Cafes that I had previously visited were gone. Leaving only a couple of options. I'm So glad we chose Coffee House. This was amazing. Although the coffee was strong, it was perfectly blended with no bitter after taste. Super Nice. However, it's the meal and the phenomenal service that has brought me to make this review. I had an amazing Blue Granedier and Sweet potato Chips. Never have I experienced such a thin crisp batter, with magnificently cooked and succulent fish inside. It was amazing. Just Beautiful. Everybody else was raving about their choices, from the Massive Steak Sandwich, to the Schnitzel and wven a Child size meal of Bacon and Hash browns for an extremely fussy eater. The Waitress whose name I didn't get, was patient to beyond the call of duty with us as we changed menu options a couple of times during the initial order. She maintained a beautiful smile although she probably wanted to dong us inside. Very Professional. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant and cant wait to return. It was not excessively expensive, for the huge portions delivered . And I believe it was worth every penny. I would happily make the Trek from Traralgon, just to gift myself Lunch here. There also appears to be an alfresco dining area, out the back. But as our weather was not favourable we didn't explore this.
Be Early as it closes at 2pm
If I had to make one critical comment it would be, inside the cafe, there were 6 Coffee Bean Packets on the little alcove shelf, at each seating arrangement. These seemed like a very odd decoration choice. I believe it would be more aesthetically pleasing to have an ornament, small vase / potted plant or even perhaps highlight local Artworks in this zone. I personally didn't like looking at Brown Packets of Coffee and felt it destroyed the...
ย ย ย Read moreAfter such an unpleasant brunch experience in Sale yesterday for which I wrote a disparaging review about, I feel the need to write a good review about a wonderful place I have been going back to for 12 years. I have come back to Coffee House 138 for a weekend brunch every time I come to Sale for work and am never disappointed. The food is always excellent, always plentiful, always good value, always quick. The coffee (Vittoria - my favourite) is always great. The cafe is small and comfortable and the service friendly, attentive and quick. I have tried brunch at various locations around Sale, Rosedale, Stratford and Maffra but always gravitate back to Maffra and am quite content to drive the 18 kms from Sale for a great brunch and coffee. The accompanying image is pesto scrambled eggs with a side of haloumi and a hash brown which was quite a meal. I don't think I will need lunch and probably need only a small dinner. If you are in the Sale area then you should venture up to Maffra for a...
ย ย ย Read moreThe staff here have redeemed themselves, so the review should express as such. Meal was great, coffee was great, service was punctual and cheery, what more could you ask for.
Original review. I was a great meal, the only reason I scored it so low was that the time it took to receive my meal after it was made. My meal sat for ten minutes before it was given to me. It's not like the staff were flat out, I think they just forgot I was there...
