KFC Wonthaggi — Restaurant in Victoria

We occasionally get takeaway from this place & each time we do we are inevitably disappointed. Then we staunchly vow never to return.... But of course we do because, let's face it, there's not exactly a huge array of take away food options in Wonthaggi after hours. It's KFC, Subway(another story) or Macca's basically. Anyway tonight we decided to try KFC again hoping things had changed. Suffice to say nothing has! The chips were again undercooked... limp, soggy, sad looking & demoralised. And without a single grain of salt (which I specifically requested because of my previous experience with the limp bland tasteless chips that this place apparently specialises in). At least they weren't cold.... so some bonus points there! However they were inedible. Chips are relatively simple and it staggers me how they consistently manage to ruin them here. It's a crime against potatoes! Meanwhile the wrap contained an unspeakable amount of sauce.... enough to render the small amount of chicken contained somewhere within the wrap pointless. Seriously there was so much coleslaw sauce I almost drowned in it. Again, inedible. So, all in all, a terrible food experience. KFC Wonthaggi is a franchise store, so you know what to expect if you have had KFC in your lifetime, however I think some of the standards upheld by the parent comany are a bit lost on this particular store at times. The staff and service are fine and with some of the employees being working first timers I can be forgiving. However the things I cant forgive is how the food is often too try (sitting in the warmer for too long?) or absolutely dripping with grease. Other KFCs i visit arent like this. The 2nd thing I cannot get passed is how unsightly it is when I am at the final window and see the back side of it, its looked partially damaged and dirty for years now, and when you catch a glimpse through the window the floor of the preperation area is always covered in food and rubbish. its not a good look, I suggest management take a spin from a customer perspective on that one. if the area cannot remain presentable then I think you might have a Staff time management issue. So the bottom line with this review is that this KFC could be good and it definately doesnt have a lot of competition. I think it just needs to uphold the standards set by the brand long before they even opened...

Was told there was no tenders, so I asked if I could have nuggets to replace the tenders or anything else. which seems reasonable, considering working as a shift manager at McDonald’s seems to be the polite thing to do. Instead got yelled at “NO I can’t do that because we don’t have any”, ended up just ordering something else to get to the next window to pay, not a single word was said to me, threw the efpos machine through the window and only did a thumbs up to say it was approved. Although she was taking another order whilst cashing, it’s not hard to turn the lane off for 5 seconds to say, did you order this, this is the price and that’s all good Thankyou. To then also memorise the other persons order. Where she was yelling at them as well that’s how loud she was.

Got to the presenting window got handed my food not a single word was said, orders a large potato and gravy and it’s almost like soup.

Kfc got to start training crew better, you’ll just end up losing sales...
