A few weeks ago, I booked a table for 12 people at 6:30 pm on a Saturday evening. At around 5:30 pm, I called to let them know we’d be arriving closer to 7:15 pm instead of 6:30 pm. The lady on the phone was incredibly friendly and accommodating, assuring me the change wouldn’t be an issue.
The entrance was unique—a walk through a replica mine shaft that added an interesting touch. The bistro itself was a good size, and our table was well-located with convenient access to the bar, toilets, and service area. However, I did notice there was no sport playing on the TVs in the bistro, which seemed unusual.
Unfortunately, the dining table was extremely sticky, and we had to peel the menus and napkins off the surface for use. This really needs attention, as addressing it would significantly improve the first impression for guests. That said, the menu offered enough variety to satisfy everyone in our group, the prices were reasonable, and the service was prompt. No one was dissatisfied with their meal, which was great.
After dinner, we headed to the ‘sports bar.’ While the space was a little dated, it was spacious and had four pool tables in good condition. Interestingly, there was still no sport on the TVs—just athletics on free-to-air TV and horse racing. When we asked the bar staff about it, they explained they didn’t have Foxtel because it was too expensive. We even offered to cast the AFL game to one of the TVs using the remote, but the staff declined, saying, “No, that’ll mess everything up.”
It felt like a missed opportunity to engage patrons, especially since there were only two other people in the sports bar who were busy playing pool. If you dilute your offering, you risk losing chances to attract, engage, and retain customers. Ultimately, we left and found another venue that had the game on.
So overall, good for a meal, a drink and pokies (if that's your thing), but not worth it if you want to set up for an evening session watching sport...
Read moreMy partner and I had a booking here on Sunday night we called earlier in the day to book a table we ask for a table up against the wall as it’s quieter there and we were given table 42. Upon arrival we looked in the book and there was our name next to table 42 when the concierge came he looked at the book and said I’m going to have to move you. I asked why and where and he offered a table is a busy spot near the door which like table 42 is a table for two looking at table 42 it was vacant with no one sitting there. I just wonder who he had coming that he felt was more worthy of that table that we had called earlier and booked. After I told him that I’d rather just go elsewhere he said oh ok sit there on table 42 well we just left any way like who was this guy that thought he could move us to a noisy table near the door when we pre booked it Who did he have in mind that he thought should get that table. As far as I know the royal tour is over. We will not except as being treated as second class. There are other clubs in town that we ended up at for a pleasant evening. With shabby treatment like that we are unlikely to return even though my...

My partner was in a car accident and obviously looks a bit different now and has to to be extremely careful and a few times I saw them talking and staring at him horrible absolutely disgusting behaviour I spoke to one of the managers and he said he can’t do much and now I need to wait to talk to the big manager I am so disappointed honestly made me sick!
