My parents and I ate here on Chinese new year eve 2025, in attempts to get Chinese food whilst on our holiday away from home. We had the pan fried chicken and shrimp dumplings and steamed/boiled pork and Chinese cabbage ones. The food was excellent, dumpling skins were not too thick, fillings flavourful. The owner recommended which dumplings to fry or boil based on flavour profile, was very friendly and welcoming and conversed in mandarin with us which was great. Always have dumplings with vinegar! He also had good relations with his frequent customers who knew him by name. Service is sometimes delayed as he had to take orders, serve and deal with the cashier, so wait times may be a little longer should there be more customers. We had fried banana and ice cream for dessert which was lovely. The banana fritter was fried well, batter was nice and coated with cinnamon sugar. Would've been better to have 2 pieces rather than 1 piece per serve because it was so yummy! Paired well with the vanilla ice cream too. We left very satisfied.

Vickie’s best dumplings (IMHO) 👍 Who knew we had to travel all the way to Wonthagi to savour this exceptional rendition made fresh by an all-Chinese crew in an open kitchen. Available steamed or fried, our choice of chicken and prawn dumplings came the last of 3 dishes but proved the overwhelming best. Succulent fresh prawn and juicy chicken mince swimming in hot broth and wrapped in thin skin. Served bottom-up with a skilful char and flour webbing that makes this a delight to the eyes and tastebuds. A dozen of these bad boys for $15. Well worth the drive from Philly out through Kilcunda. Tackle with care and discover bliss with each bite. We did, and can’t wait to return for more!

Ordered take away - and food Ok - the traditional Chinese dishes are usually better and the dumplings are good. Example of not so good is - honey chicken - presented as tiny, deep fried strips of chicken presented in a takeaway paper bag - Not very appetising, dry, very high ratio of crumbs to chicken. Our main problem started when I found a hair, black, and 3 cm long in my chicken and sweet, corn soup. Everyone with hair problems in my family is blonde, and 20 cm in length, whilst I am bald, completely bald. I ate most of the soup, until discovery but called the restaurant to complain, and the woman on the phone could not understand me. At first, she thought I was trying to make an order then she realised I was complaining about a hair in the food and then she asked if I wanted to order a chicken dish. I asked to speak to the young Australian boy serving in the restaurant, because his English is really good. She said he had left. I finally explain to one of the staff with better English, about the hair, and she said that I had to come in to deliver the soup back to them. I tried to explain that we live more than 20 minutes away and that the drive would cost us $8-10 in total, just to get there, to complain about some soup. I asked them to take my number, but they refused and said that they would only process my complaint if I came in personally to give it to them. My intention was for them to take my name and number, and for next time to give me a small discount from the next meal. I hung up in disgust, but my wife decided to call them back and actually spoke to the young Australian boy who was able to understand the complaint. We were able to explain that we felt it was very poor customer service. Why not just take our name and number and then give us 10 bucks off the next meal. Unfortunately with the limited choices in Wonthaggi we have to say that we won't be back, I think I have offered a really good review in the past of the dumplings, but I will have to find that review and pull it . I no longer recommend eating here. Just wear a bloody hair net or even...

This is one of the best restaurants in Wonthaggi! We are very privileged to have such high quality cooking here. This is better than normal Chinese. This could almost be Singapore Chinese. The food is very well made and with local ingredients. The honey chicken is well above average, and they use real chicken, real good parts of chicken and real honey! The batter is perfect and I never get allergies from it here. They make the best lamb monogolian and many of their other dishes are sooo good and their rice dishes are just so good! They even have garlic prawn fried rice! The staff are beautiful and friendly people and always make you feel welcome :). They also give us a free teapot of jasmine leaf tea every time! Very comfortable seats and lovely ambience. Please dont miss out on coming here if you are in town. They are seriously very good and authentic cooking! I am a new local in Wonthaggi and come here every week. Whoever put negative reviews below dont really understand authentic cooking. The place is also very clean too. This is the place you should go to for dinner. Prices are very affordable too. Thank you for such...
