(1 star as I never experienced the food). Myself and another 3 members of our group were extremely disappointed to be turned away last Sunday 29th May at 11.20am after being told Moo's were "finishing up breakfast dining". We were offered coffee and cake but were most looking forward to the well acclaimed breakfast/brunch I had read about in reviews and featuring in the South Gippsland Eat & Drink guide plus we hadn't eaten and had coffee in Fish Creek. Google stated they were open until 4.30pm, I do note the website does not mention Sunday's however there were patrons still dining in the café.
We were not offered any lunch dining hours nor any other explanation besides somewhere else in town we could try. I left bewildered that 4 patrons would be turned away from such an establishment with little reasoning... I had travelled from Melbourne with a friend to spoil our Mother's for the weekend. Moo's was a highlight I "WAS" most looking forward too. I understand the staffing issues some businesses are experiencing but this didn't seem the case or at least was not suggested.
We continued to Burra Brewery for delicious pizza instead. Seems I should have done my due diligence & rung ahead for a Sunday breakfast/brunch booking or ate at Fish Creek Hotel instead.
Sorry Moo's I don't normally write such reviews but very disappointed especially considering the struggle many hospitality venues have experienced in recent time. Thought our patronage would...
Read moreMy partner and I were really excited to visit this venue, we patiently waited until they opened so we could enjoy the beautiful decor and well reviewed food and coffee.
The decor was in fact beautiful! What a stunning building! But unfortunately the food was disappointing, as was the coffee. Both needed to be 3x warmer..
Ordering the eggs Benedict we were appalled at the service station style potato cake that substituted the traditional toast or hash typically accompanying eggs Benedict. Perhaps something to review in the future. When we asked for some toast as a side after seeing the potato cakes on our plate we were told that the toast would take 5-10 minutes to be cooked, we then asked for just bread instead and received an unbuttered slice of stale bread.
The staff were friendly but seemed unprepared and untrained. We were over charged for sides that were complimentary to our meal.
I understand that it was Anzac Day and expectedly was more busy than usual but alas, the experience was not up to standard.
Thank you for your service, I hope this review is helpful...
Read moreThis is NOT a review for the food, but in fact a review for the owner/manager at front desk.
We (me and two of my friends) walked in on Good Friday night for dinner not having had a chance to eat anything since an early breakkie. The place was not full but we were refused service because we didn’t have a booking and they didn’t want to overwhelm the kitchen staff as they were severely understaffed.
Hold on, if I was turned away when I was hungry why is this a 5 star review? A few reasons actually
The guy was super professional & courteous when declining to serve us. Also explained why he couldn’t serve us and apologised for the inconvenience. Even went ahead and gave us recommendations on where we might find a table that night.
I work in hospitality and know first hand about current staff shortage and the stress it puts on staff when owners and managers take bookings without considering the workload on the staff. A manager who cares about his staff over revenue is a hero...
