Phoenix Food & Coffee — Restaurant in Victoria

Unfortunately another unrefined cafe for Bairnsdale. With tiny plastic bonsai trees on timber look laminate tables and Kmart style wall prints hung on plain white walls, Phoenix is another cafe without personality. Bairnsdale is full of them, most with no concept of acoustics and aesthetics. Regretfully Phoenix was the cherry on the top for me as I had to express my disappointment towards many of the cafes in the area. Although the service from the cafe was excellent and the prices were very reasonable, the menu didn't have anything exceptional or eye catching from the typical diet of regional Victoria (plenty of meat, bread, eggs). I gave meat a miss and tried the vegan burger, not to my surprise I should have picked something else with more fats and salt in it as it was quite bland. I find this often happens in areas with lower vegetarian or vegan dietary requirements. Absolutely appauling, had pancakes which were swimming in so much maple syrup that they were not edible. On mentioning it to the staff member, all she said was ok..then mentioned it again when paying and the staff member said she new. I asked to speak to the manager, who appeared and said its the standard 60 mls he puts on. I said it definitely was not 60mls, there was at least 3/4 of a cup on my bowl. This made the pancakes so stodgy and disgusting. Yhe Manager pretty much said this is how it is and didn't offer any compensation considering l didn't even eat...

What a waste of time and money!

We ordered bacon Benny , we did NOT receive this, instead we got something else. When we went to pay and enquire about why we didn’t receive what we had ordered. They only gave us a $ 2.00 discount and then still charged us a 20% surcharge because it was a public holiday. ( come on a lousy $2.00! My god what a joke! ) So not only do you NOT receive what you ordered , but you still have to pay for not only the wrong meal. but so they can work and give you that wrong meal! Seriously Guys! You need to have a good hard look at...
