First off, the food was quite good. We went on a saturday with a group, getting, I believe, the 'feed me' option, so it was shared amongst the table. The waitresses weren't very efficient - they just sort of chucked the food down and left us to figure out what went where (for example, there were 6 bowls of chips for the whole ~25 odd person table, and 3 of said bowls were just chucked down one end, leading the people up the other end not knowing there were any and missing out). It's not a huge deal, but when your're paying $45 a head I expect better service.
This leads to the real issue - $45 a head for a bit of lamb, some rocket lettuce and chips - which I find a but egregious when I see "$30 roasts Sat/Sun" advertised from them the next day. To be fair, these $30 dollar roast options look really great, and we would've got a better feed picking these. Maybe the lamb was special somehow and justifies the price, but as far as i could tell it was just roast lamb. I just have a hard time figuring out where the extra comes from when we got less and more basic stuff than the cheaper roast options.
We (unknowingly) paid about $19 for a jug of pepsi. How you feel about that will tell you whether or not you want to eat here. The food is definitely good, but I can't help feeling like we got taken for a...
Read moreThey charge $50 per person if your group is smaller than booked. We booked for a Bookclub on a Wednesday evening. 2 people cancelled last minute so we were down to 6 people. Told we would have to pay $100 for not letting them know. I understand that no shows are a problem for small businesses but this charge was hidden in a paragraph on the booking site terms and conditions. The size of the charge is also exorbitant - on average we spent about $35 so they were making more off the no shows than us. A $10 or $20 charge would have been more appropriate . They could also have pulled the 3-top aside and sold it. If you’re going to have that charge then do some work for it and message your large table bookings that day to ask them to confirm numbers and remind them of the charge. This is not a usual practice for a pub meal. Manager reduced charge to $50 on appeal but still argued we should have read small print. Creating unhappy customers cannot be good for this kind of business in...
Read moreFrom what I’m told it’s recently been renovated. I first came here on a quiet Monday afternoon and loved the retro feeling of the pub.
John, behind the bar was so friendly, we ordered bar nibbles and they were so good especially the croquettes, which had shavings of lemon in them. Had a great afternoon there.
Then on my second visit was on a Sunday night and again it’s was just such a good experience, with cozy vibes, they had sports on, footy tripping on the wall and it just had a great Aussie pub atmosphere to it in my opinion and a bonus, no pokies.
They have a restaurant at the back which looks fantastic, with a fireplace and decent spaced, sized tables.
Then being a Pom, the Guinness on tap was pretty good.
It’s...
