Tatura Hot Bread — Restaurant in Victoria

Great little bakery/cafe with a large selection of the usual bread/loaves/buns. Quite a lot of sandwiches/wraps/rolls made up for on the go or to have there. Big selection of cakes and slices that I can personally say I was disappointed that I was unable to try them all but of the ones we did try they were delicious. There is also a large selection of different flavoured hot pies which, of the ones we tried, were filled with quality ingredients and tasted great. You can also get take away or dine in coffee. Australia's best vanilla slice. Australia's best pie.

I've been eating this vanilla slice since I was 6. Haven't lived in Tatura for 25 years, but still rate this as the best to this day. (And so do the judges at the great vanilla slice bake off.)

Congratulations to Geoff and Glenda for another year of awards. But with bakery goods that are of such a high standard, it would criminal to give the prize to anyone else.

I'll be asking for a batch of the coffee slice next time we come through town.

It was just after the lunch rush. Iced coffee's were good, I quite like their coffee. Cakes were not up to standard. One felt like it had been there for a while, it had a skin and was stodgy - a hard custard slice with passiinfruit glaze. The pastry on the vanilla slice was just really hard and it made it quite difficult to eat. My wifes lemon slice, she said, was bland. Not lemon-ey enough and the icing non-descript.
