The Lancefield Hotel has recently changed ownership - and what a breath of fresh air it is! I've been here twice now since the change of ownership and they have served up some top quality steaks both times at a very reasonable price, the porterhouse is only $35, it tastes fantastic and they don't skimp on the sides either with a mountain of chips being delivered. Now with the new owners, the food feels like it's made with pride, passion and love for the art that is hospitality. It's fantastic to see VB on tap at the Lancefield Hotel as this Melbourne staple has become shunned in recent times for some unknown reason, it's getting difficult to find on tap in Melbourne, but they have it here so rest assured if you enjoy the simpler things in life. Though it would be nice to see the Lancefield Hotel team up with some local microbreweries in our region to offer a greater selection of craft beer that's locally produced, at the moment the beer selection leaves a little bit to be desired if you have bourgeois tastes in the beer department and are a fiend for a craft beer - particularly with dark beers but this may be due to the seasonal nature of dark beers. At the moment they have Guinness available but no craft porters or dark ales at the time of this review. The service is great, with friendly front of house staff and the bar area is always chock full of locals from the region there to socialise. I feel like this is the atmosphere that a great pub would have had in an era that predates social media and the internet, it's certainly become a great social hub of Lancefield. There was also live music in the beer garden today for those who enjoy a venue with live music. The staff and the new owners of the Lancefield Hotel should take pride as I believe they are hands down the best pub in the Macedon Ranges. I've eaten at many a cafe, restaurant and pub across Australia as verified by my reviews, the Lancefield Hotel is one of the better pubs. Lancefield is going from strength to strength with fantastic local businesses, the efforts of which will see Lancefield become a day trip destination for people from Melbourne to come out and enjoy the top quality food and friendly atmosphere these local businesses and their hard working staff provide. They are forging a path, providing experiences that the entire Eastern side of the Macedon Ranges will be proud of - keep up the great work and keep flying the flag for Lancefield, to the business owners and the staff, your efforts are not going unnoticed. Those of you reading this from Melbourne, forget Woodend, come have a counter meal at the Lancefield Hotel.

Tonight was our first venture out to indoor dining in a looong time. So pleased to find what we can now consider to be our “local”.. even if it is 40 mins up the road. Staff were friendly, polite, gracious. Food - generous, well presented, tasty. Wine - delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the music added to this, complementing (instead of drowning out) our conversation. We were booked in the back dining room, complete with table service, window with a view, and plenty of space between patrons. The best part was how respectfully the venue manages covid safe protocols. All staff wear masks properly over mouth and nose, checkins are checked, spacing ensured. At the end of it all, staff even rescued the handbag left behind after a few too many wines! Thank you for making our Friday night after a long, hard week. So glad we went north instead of south.

This pub is a great 'authentic' aussie pub. The range of beer on tap is mainstream; however if you like your beer a little bit off the beat and track, check out the fridges. As for tucka, the Mrs had fish and chips, and was impressed (usually she is quite sensitive regarding too oily fish), so that got 4.5 out of 5. I had the Parma - top marks with a 5. What lifted this pub from a 4 to a 5 rating was: No sliders on the menu No kayle to be found No poker machines Very kid friendly Delicious onion rings, But most importantly, really friendly and helpful staff. I started going to this pub in the 80's, and will continue to do so. And as Romsey resident, it has always been my preferred pub vs. the now defunct Romsey pub 😁

A pleasant Sunday drive found my wife and myself at the Lancefield hotel. We arrived around noon and upon entering saw many large groups mainly with children . This did not deter us and we were shown to a table way down the back but with a view of the main road. The room filled quickly and after about 30 minutes, still waiting for our order to be taken, I went to the bar and asked about table service. They forgot, so I ordered there. A smoked salmon poke bowl for my wife and the duck pie for me. The hotel was at near capacity so a wait was on the cards. The large tables with the children cleared before 1pm, but we still had a wait for our order. Our meals arrived and was well worth the wait. Only gripe was the duck pie was extremely hot and the pastry hard which makes me feel it was left in the oven too long. Once it cooled down it was delicious and my wife was impressed with the salmon dish. Would we go back?? Maybe not, although a casual afternoon in the beer garden with a group of friends...

The Lancefield Hotel, Vic, is absolutely fantastic and so welcoming to all their guests. The moment you arrive, you are always greeted by a fantastic smile from the team, especially Brooke. Her constant strive for excellence, is outstanding by ensuring you feel both comfortable and welcomed, and always happy to suggest ideas if you're stuck on what to order. Her customer service is always at the forefront of her respective duties, and this is evident by both her passion and commitment, ensuring your experience is a returning one. The food is fantastic. Well you would expect that anyway when they have the best chefs in town! Also, I don't want to give this away, as it would probably disadvantage me ordering drinks due crowds; however, they have awesome raffles every Friday night, giving back to the community, along with a constant "sold out" Trivia night. But, don't just take my word for it, I highly recommend the Lancefield Hotel, and love spending time here...
