Wen's Kitchen — Restaurant in Victoria

Bit of a long one. I honestly didn’t want to slam this place I had just moved to the area and wanted to support local businesses.

However the man working who has very good intentions and was very polite and apologetic. However he spoke near to no English. Therefore, my order was completely wrong after a phone call order. Upon arrival I noticed this and politely confronted the worker about my order being wrong.

After conversing through google translate. The worker kindly corrected my order.

After a decently frustrating order/pickup process l was keen to return home and eat. Unfortunately the chicken fried rice I ordered was extremely dry and had hardly any chicken or vegetables in it.

Honestly I’m not massive on negative reviews but I would have hoped to see one like this before choosing my takeaway restaurant.

We were visiting from Adelaide and Wen's Kitchen reminds me of a place we had for many years in Adelaide before the owners retired (the Fu Lin on Goodwood Road) - a Mum and Dad run restaurant.

Wen's Kitchen does not hold back on the serving size (the containers are packed to overflowing) or freshness (the vegetables are varied, not overcooked and so fresh). We had the garlic prawns (large and succulent), the beef with ginger and shallots (yes you could taste them) and the roast pork in plum sauce (again, a generous serve of meat with vegetables). Wens is our usual go to for takeaway. Tonight we purchased food we have had many times before. The Singapore noodles really lacked flavour and had next to no vegies while the pork and plum sauce tasted very different with a thick gluggy sauce. It tasted like the sauce was pre made/ purchased in bulk rather than being home. I have previously worked in a Chinese restaurant and know the consistency of the sauce didn't seem home made at all.
