I have a love-hate relationship with Centerpoint Pizza. The pizza itself is delicious, and the chefs who craft these culinary delights are always positive and skilled at their craft. However, a recent experience has left me with mixed feelings.
On the positive side, the pizza is consistently tasty, and the chefs always contribute to a positive dining experience. Unfortunately, my latest visit was marred by an unpleasant incident. As I entered to pick up my order, I witnessed an older lady berating the younger phone staff. The confrontation seemed unnecessary, and it created an uncomfortable atmosphere for both customers and employees.
Even the usually positive chefs appeared uncomfortable during this incident. It's disheartening to see that the internal issues extend beyond the front-of-house staff. I understand that the restaurant industry can be fast-paced and stressful, but public confrontations between staff members are never pleasant to witness.
I've noticed similar instances with the owner, which raises concerns about the work environment. The incident was particularly unsettling because I had my younger daughter with me that day. No one wants their child exposed to such behavior, and it made me question the professionalism of the staff.
In the future, I hope Centerpoint Pizza addresses these internal issues to maintain the positive dining experience I've come to expect. The pizza is excellent, and the chefs play a significant role in creating that experience. It would be a shame for these incidents to overshadow the restaurant's...
Read morePizza ranges from exceptional to passable depending on the visit and the order. Consistently not enough pizza sauce across all orders however.
Main issue is with the fact that this might be the only pizza store I've ever visited that charges for simple topping substitutions (jalapenos/pineapple instead of olives/mushrooms etc.) You charge the same amount for most toppings ($1.50) so why is it an additional charge if you wanted one instead of the other? This is a simple courtesy most every decent pizza shop accomodates for but seems to be an unreasonable request at this shop.
Also noticed that if a request is made for a pizza to have a topping removed there is no effort made to increase the remaining toppings in lieu of the one removed. You're still paying the same price so it seems just a real cheapskate move to not give the paying customer their moneys worth rather than pocketing the difference.
This place was AWESOME when it operated as Rack City and when you visit them on their best day they are the best in the area by a mile, but as a more expensive option than some of the others in the area it just seems like they fall down over small things that really shouldn't be an issue and just seems like poorly thought out choices/training. I'd be more inclined to visit more regularly if there was better consistency and better accomodation...
Read more[EDIT] : May 2025 ... Unsure if run by different owners since last visit (100% don't recognise any staff).
But experience is soo much better - whole process from ordering to getting pizza.
Have certainly improved + staff even attentive ... Staff even held door open as left, as had hands full - talk about service :)
[EDIT] : Jan 2024 ... Ordered double meat but clearly didn't get it. Some parts of pizza had no meat toppings at all - haphazardly put together with no care. Not what we normally get when ordering from here.
[Past Review] ...
In terms of premium pizza places they are up there with the best ... but still not quite there yet.
In terms of traditional "italian" pizzas, again right up there but not 100%.
my sister in Melbourne used to live next door to an Italian born/migrant pizza shop owner ... (And the leftover pizzas he used to give us for free).
Centrepoint deserves 4 stars. But are certainly trying hard to be better at every instance they can.
Sat night was first time i have tried your pizza's since you've moved from down the road ... Compared to before - you are heading in right direction ... Better...
