With respect to the various reactions, edited & replaced comments by more than one Como Hotel venue manager, the observation that I would make now is: It is far better to spend your time in training and supervising staff, actively participating in customer service and focussing on the fundamentals of your job than spending time online, typing passive aggressive, misplaced attempts at humour.

Lunched here 16 Feb 2024 - sadly the service and quality of food has deteriorated - no care or pride.
$27 dollars for a small "Reuben" sandwich with chips! Devoured in seconds because it was so tiny!
The table of four older gents near us, (that I spoke to, at length) were so far from happy, it was not funny!
If the two managers on duty (either of them) are truly interested in their patrons' experience they could have actually asked them - hospitality 101.
It is a real talent in the kitchen to make "thick crust sour dough" look like home brand white sliced bread.
Please note: The Reuben sandwich is without doubt one of America’s greatest culinary creations. The deli stack is traditionally made with corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, pickles, and some version of thousand island or Russian dressing, all between RYE BREAD.
MY FIRST REVIEW - SIX YEARS AGO: Been here a few times over the past couple of years.
Regrettably, it is now just another venue that the ALH Group has done its best to ruin. It's very sad that so many iconic pubs have been bought by this group and turned into mediocre venues.
Tip 1: A club sandwich should be a tasty snack with fresh bread and generous fillings (including bacon, egg and fresh iceberg lettuce). It should not be a slice of chicken fillet, tomato and lettuce or was it rocket (maybe some cheese?) that has been cafe pressed for at least ten minutes so that the contents merge into one another and become dry and tasteless.
Tip 2: Frozen crumbed squid rings do not taste good, especially when they are sitting on a "salad" of mixed leaves that do not have a dressing, but are sprayed with aerosol oil.
Tip 3: When one of your customers is clearly unhappy and described why they have not eaten their salad, don't insult them by offering a free coffee that they don't want.
Our wait staff were pleasant, but this can never make up for the lack of care or concern with the food offered. (Check out TripAdvisor for some more current and...
Read moreMy family and I went to the Como for their lunch buffet and paid 80 dollars a head, only to get there and find out that the food was just disgusting. I could only Stomach the Ham, some peas with gravy and Carrot. Everything else I didn't touch. Here's some examples of what was wrong:
Ham and Turkey The ham and turkey were served on warming trays, however at the very bottom, there was a lot of liquid. I understand this may not be safe, but also it just doesn't look good or appetising to anyone who wants to eat it. The people who ate the turkey have said it was revolting.
Cheesy cauliflower The cauliflower was not even cooked! It was rock hard.
My cousin is a bit of a fussy eater, and because the food looked so bad, she was even more discouraged from trying anything new. So my Auntie asked if she could have a bowl of chips, however the waitress said, no it's only what they have on. So she spoke with the manager and he again told her no. So basically one person didn't eat at all, yet still paid 80 dollars.
I understand this is Christmas day and the cost of running a business on Christmas day, + low staff moral because they can't be with their families are probably all contributing factors, however, if they're going to charge 80 dollars a head and this is what they're serving, then just close the doors and open back up after Christmas.
In total we spend $880 dollars and we won't be coming back. I cannot overstate how bad the food was, but the icing on the cake was the managers attitude to my auntie when she asked for a bowl of chips for my cousin who is already quite fussy.
Management need to ask themselves "Would I serve my family this food" or "Would I eat this myself?" because I think any normal sane human being wouldn't. Please please please review your current processes, or you're all going to run that business into the ground.

Service was reasonably good.
Atmosphere reasonably good.
The food is average, not bad, not good. Right down the middle.
The steak sandwich is what I ordered so I'll explain. The top bun was very dry and almost powdery. Sometimes this dryness is resolved by having plenty of sauce but the sauce was lacking (but it did taste OK). The steak was very thin like it was cut on a deli slicer and very poor quality. It has a large line of gristle running through it. Any chef/cook that looked at the raw meat could have seen this line of gristle and addressed it before they put it on the griller. To me I feel it shows they don't care about the customer or have pride in the kitchen. When I cook at home I would be embarrassed to serve this and call it steak. The bacon was weird and had very little smokey flavour, I think it was cooked in the oven, it was overcooked and not good. The steak also did not taste like it was cooked on a grill. The chips weren't even that good, they tasted a bit old or something. Overall it was edible and I was hungry but was left very unimpressed.
The beers were perfect.
I won't comment on other food at the table because I...
