We went to Friar Tucks for Sunday lunch me my wife and 2 kids on 25/6/23 . And I would have left reasonably happy if it wasn’t for the final act!!! so we ordered 4 drinks all soft drinks 35 dollars which was crazy expensive then food myself and my wife ordered the 3 course roast lunch special and my children ordered onion rings and a chicken burger 90 dollars . It was haft full so waited for a table to be cleaned and was seated .I immediately asked the waiter a young 16 year old lad what the dessert was on the 3 course lunch he very promptly, went and checked and came back and said it was Apple crumble with custard !! I said brilliant can you please make a note that I don’t eat custard I’ll just have the Apple crumble by itself Thank you he said no problem . service was very slow and it took a long time before our garlic bread came but it was reasonable and even longer for our main roast pork not bad it definitely tasted like it came out of a microwave but it was ok . My son didn’t eat his chicken schnitzel burger he said it tasted like fish obviously use the same fryer and my daughter said the onion rings were extremely greasy but all good so we finished our mains and waited and waited until I called over the waiter so he could organise our deserts and waited another 15 minutes at this stage we arrived at 1.30 pm it 3.20pm now so the deserts come out custard on the deserts all good the young lad who I spoke to service it he apologised and said I’ll get you another one .5 minutes later the waiter appears saying the chef won’t make another one because you’re on the three course special ? I said but I asked you well before the meal even started and if there’s a problem why didn’t this get communicated this before hand and if you like send the chef out to me and I’ll have a word with him/her the poor young lad probably 15,16 was shaking he didn’t want to go back to the kitchen he did but then never came back or told us what was happening we were ignored for 15 to 20 minutes. We sat there until we just got up and left not a tanks for coming how was everything nothing they purposely ignore the situation . Super disappointed and probably will tell everybody I meet how absolutely terrible that was. Anyway very poor quality of staff no leadership super expensive and definitely gone downhill since...
Read moreAbout a year ago, we had the Sunday Roast. Everything was absolutely tasteless, even the veggies were bland. All four of us in the group felt the same and decided not to bother again. It was cheap, but I rather pay a bit more and get a decent meal. Today, we were going to give it another go, as the pub has a special atmosphere. My wife ordered the vegetarian curry. The chef obviously has no idea what a curry is. She received a bowl of what looked like gravy seasoned with lots of pepper to make it spicy. You couldn't taste any Indian spices nor coconut milk, a common ingredient in curries. I had the Fish and Chips. The fish batter was oily and Cicerello's would have provided double the portion for the same price. As we had the Senior's meals, the menu stated that for another $5 extra one could select a dessert. We decided on the lemon crepes. The presentation of the dessert was a joke, we had asked to not have icecream with it (this request showed up on the receipt), but received mostly melted icecream with the crepes. When we paid for our meals, we found out that the lemon crepes were not available for the special price of $5 but cost nearly double. Nobody had bothered to point that out when we ordered. To top our dining experience, the dirty dishes from the main course had not been removed when we received the desserts and our table decided to clear the table ourselves moving the dishes to the neighbouring table. That table was still not cleared when we left und we were the only guests left beside another 3 customers. What is actually the job of the waitpersons? This was definitely not a dining experience we expected. Sorry, but Friar Tucks is off the...
Read moreAn unfortunate night at Friar Tucks last night apron arriving asked the staff if they could wipe the table as my arms stuck to the table whilst awaiting for her to return she stopped and had a casual chat with another staff member in plain view for about 5 minutes before returning and cleaning the table after we ordered the food took a little bit to arrive but not to bad until my order arrived which was the veggie curry pot but what was delivered was filled with chicken and about 10 giant pieces of green capsicum no sign of anything else resembling a vegetable I waved the staff over to inform them they had given me the wrong order and got a simple reply well I put it thru as a vegetable curry a short time later another staff member came to the table and asked if I wanted them to add some vegetables to the bowl to which I declined I must point out at this stage I’m not a vegetarian but I wanted what I had ordered so I waited for my friends to finish the roast 3 course meal and we sat and waited about another 15 minutes whilst the staff actively avoided us until we got up and went to the counter to pay and explain we had been sitting and waiting for the desert to come out for half and hour in the end told them not to worry about the desert and left so out of 3 orders they stuffed 1 completely and didn’t complete another I don’t blame the staff serving us they just young kids with no leadership more interested in having a chat near the register than customer service or quality control the picture supplied is the “veggie curry pot I was served” chicken...
