My honest review of the food; We also gave feedback to the chef at the end of our meal:
We started with the bruschetta and the garlic hot sausage with marinated olives.
Bruschetta; the bread was too big, cut into two large portions making it difficult to enjoy as a starter. The basil was added but hardly a prominent feature, the balsamic vinegar also more of a back note. Also in saying this, the potential is there, it just needs a lot of tweaking.
The sausages and the olives were rather underwhelming and oily. It was just fried, thin slices of salami and warmed Kalamata olives. Not a lot of garlic flavours from the salami or anything from the marinated olives.
For mains we had the Penne Casalinga pasta and the spaghetti con gamberi.
The Penne had a nice tomato sauce through it, very little mushrooms and again the weird fried salami through it, I understand the description of sausage can be salami, but there seems to be no real variation of sausage. Other than the sauce it was lacking a lot for the imagination and did not fit the description of the menu.
The spaghetti was overcooked, dry on top and we found we needed to keep rotating the spaghetti to get it to just be coated somewhat in the very little bits of sauce on the bottom. Sadly again there was no white wine flavour from the white wine sauce, not a hint of the olive oil, very little fresh tomato and 6 prawns, that was also over cooked and bitter. We can’t report on the dessert as we did not stay for it, as by then we knew it was the end of the evening food wise.
The service was prompt, not as warm as what one would like but not lacking in how quickly our orders were taken, food was served and table cleared.
The restaurant was more of a deli setting than a restaurant as well, quite bright and no music playing.
Over all it was an interesting experience, I wouldn’t advise against going here but I myself would probably think twice about...

Gino's Spaghetti Bar is an absolute treasure for anyone craving authentic, hearty Italian cuisine in a warm and welcoming setting. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with the irresistible aroma of simmering sauces and fresh herbs – just like Nonna’s kitchen.
The pasta is hands-down some of the best in Perth – always cooked perfectly al dente, with generous portions and rich, flavour-packed sauces. The spaghetti bolognese and the creamy carbonara are personal favourites, but every dish I've tried has been consistently excellent. You can taste the love and tradition in every bite.
The staff are incredibly friendly and treat you like family. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeaway, the service is fast, genuine, and always with a smile. Gino's is the kind of place where regulars are remembered, and newcomers are warmly welcomed.
Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the quality is top-notch. This is Italian comfort food done right.
If you’re in Yokine or anywhere nearby, do yourself a favour and make time for Gino’s. It's a local favourite for a reason – and after one visit, you’ll...
Read moreI’d heard a good things about Ginos and I also live locally so thought I’d try it. Unfortunately my spaghetti bolognaise had a bit of an odd smell when I opened the container, which I put down to ingredients, but it was also very dry. The flavour wasn’t there & the lack of sauce made the meal unappetising - I didn’t finish it and ended up throwing the remainder out. Later in bed I started having stomach cramps and knew straightaway it was the meal. Fortunately the gastro issue didn’t last long - an hour or so - so I was able to go back to sleep after a few visits to the toilet! 😬 So I don’t know what happened at this well rated place - both by reviews & word of mouth from a friend - on the night I ordered but my experience has definitely put me off trying again. The food was clearly past use by date, or hadn’t been stored properly, and shouldn’t have been used. Really...
