Gold Castle Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Western Australia

This Chinese restaurant used to be called Golden Castle It has Friendly owners and pleasant friendly staff. The food is your typical suburban Chinese restaurant with nothing outstanding on the menu We ordered recently a takeaway and this order was by far the worst Sweet & Sour Fish no it should be called Sweet and Sour batter. No fish to be seen and a pathetic red sauce ment to be sweet and sour sauce is the same as the dipping sauce for spring rolls Sweet and sour sauce is accompanied by pineapple pieces,pickled cucumber and carrot not just a fake red sauce Vegie omelette was ok Beef ginger and Shallots Ask for no onion it had onion meat portion was exceptable but the flavour was lacking any taste it's as if Ken has given up on the restaurant and just does not care. We can not tollerate MSG or any other additive anyway a good cook should be able to create flavour without enhancers We unfortuately have complained one too many times and nothing has been done. Not in this order but in a previous order we were served stuck together half cooked wontons in a short soup Honestly this used to be a restaurant that had pride in its cooking but not anymore We hardly use this place now due to the arwfull food. In our opinion there is too much competion to take short cuts around the area so we will give this place a big NAH Worst special fried rice no flavour fake char siew portions are lacking ingrediants alot of shortcuts are being used and the prices are not cheap Once was a great Food outlet now it's western style food with little if no Authenticity dont...

Yesterday I ordered three dishes from this restaurant that we have been going to for years and what a complete waste of money There is nothing authentic about this suburban chow shop The one star if for the Vegie omelette the rest even our dog would not touch. The Sweet & sour King prawns were flavourless with not even salt having been used in the batter. Bland nothingness & soggy There was a red sauce ment to resemble a Sweet & sour sauce less the Pineapple, Onion, Cucumber and Capsicum Everything is done on the cheap and they use MSG as I immediately had a reaction Last but not least the most discusting dish of all the so called Special Fried Rice Tasteless boiled rice with little to no ingredients and tasting like someone's days old washing water People you work hard for your money so my advice is give this place a miss. The food isn't Chinese it's a sad excuse of slop. Never again will I waste my money on this crap. Ken you should be shamed at serving substandard flavourless crap and stop ripping your loyal customers off...

We had high expectations of this place because of the 4.5 Google reviews, and because we love chinese food. Don't be fooled.

We were massively disappointed. Very small restaurant, not homely as I saw one description, cheap fixtures and fittings, un-clean glasses and tableware and no air con at 6pm after a 40 degree day.They did have the door open though!

As for the food, very bland and not what we were expecting. In fact, with 4.5 stars reviews we were blown away! A big sign for me of a cheap Chinese restaurant, is when they put celery in all the main dishes, I hate it. Its a cheap vegetable that goes a long way, but is false economy if you want a good reputation.

In conclusion, we were the only ones eating there so the service was OK. Oh and because there was no air con I had to take a shower when I got home!
