A busy week and guests for dinner on what was forecast to be a cold, rainy weekend led me to forget the cooking and to organise a take-away to be delivered to our home. Wanting everything to be perfect for my guests I visited Guru Spices in Attadale the evening before our dinner with the list of dishes required and set an time for delivery. Had a very long chat with Sam who was so helpful and accommodating. We were not disappointed. Our chosen meals were delivered hot and on time in the pouring rain. Turned out to be a lovely evening with an amazing selection of meals - and very large portions at that. We were able to drink/laugh and enjoy the company and the food late into the night/morning with no thought for clean up/dishes etc. My guests were even able to take away from us for their Sunday meal too. Whilst all dishes looked and smelled sensational I can totally recommend the Tandoori Chicken and Prawn Malai and Dhal dishes that I tasted. The restaurant's Naan bread was so good too. We won't hesitate to again do this (order take-away) from such a great local restaurant! Perfect for this colder...
Read moreWe have been looking for a new local Indian restaurant since our favourite restaurant, the Cove, closed down. We chose to try Guru because it had the highest google ranking of the places near to us. We booked a table for three. When we arrived, we asked if we could sit in the nice outdoor area. The staff were accommodating. However, once we were out there, they took some time to come and get our order, and took the order of some people who arrived later. Our starters were pleasant enough, or so I thought. However, of the three mains we ordered, only one of them was good, and the palak paneer , and dhal were both very bland. The staff did not check in with us to see how we were enjoying our meals. Towards the end of the meal, I found a short black hair in one of the curries. When I picked it out and showed my partner, he said that he had found the same kind of hair hair in the kachumber salad that we had at the beginning of the meal, but did not want to tell the rest of us and ruin our experience too. I’m getting this meal two stars for two hairs. We...
Read moreThe restaurant is delightful located in Attadale close to Fremantle and is fast acquiring a reputation for being amongst the best I have ever tried. This is our second visit and we had a table of 7. The dishes chosen were Lamb Korma, Guru Mixed Plate, Prawn do pyaza, Goat curry, mixed bread basket, Kashmiri Rice, Garlic Naan and our everyone in the group had multiple servings of each dish and praised all highly. Being BYO meant we chose the wines to compliment the food. (There is a liquor store next door) and parking was good both in the street and in a parking area. We have not been able to eat all the food and the rest will be packaged and taken back for later. We went on a Sunday night booking for 6.30pm and left after 8pm well fed and content. The staff were very attentive and it seems to be staffed largely by family and all knew the menu well. The restaurant was full with seating for 26 inside. We all recommend this...
