My daughter booked the Mother’s Day high tea for our family of 4 adults. What an absolute disappointment it was! We arrived just before our 2pm sitting and we were seated very promptly, which was the last of the good service we received. We waited 15mins to be served table water, whilst others were given the selection of still or sparkling we only had the choice the of still. As we waited and chatted with the family, I received the complimentary espresso martinis which was definitely not hand mixed and tasted terrible. I saw a lot of others leave theirs so must of been of the same opinion. We weren’t given a drinks menu until my husband went to the staff and asked and was told go see the bar. Overpriced wine and drinks ($55 for a bottle of moscato) we waited to have the tea and coffee that came with our $59 per head high tea. We received our 3 tiers of very basic food, nothing was cooked fresh the tiny piece of Sausage roll and tiny quiche were cold. The salmon finger sandwich was over filled with average cream cheese & the cucumber/cheese wasn’t much better. We only received 3 serves of the scones for a table of 4, which my husband advised the server twice and then went up to the main server who said we got the correct amount. He then realized he was wrong and 20mins later delivered 1 more. We were still waiting for tea and coffee (with everyone else) and we finally waved a server down to order 2 coffees and a tea at 3pm. We waited for 20mins to receive our coffee with half in the saucer and no tea. We left at 3.40pm advised the staff not to worry about the tea as it wasn’t worth the wait. The rude head waiter just waved us off and said “oh well”. My family and I will NEVER return and we will definitely be telling others...
Read moreAn unmemorable overpriced experience reminiscent of a tourist trap - the ones that figure the tourists and golfers have come all this way, can’t bother to go elsewhere (staying at resort) or will never be back anyways. Food very slow to arrive, 3 Rack of Lambs...all three dry and overdone when only 1 requested well done, 1 basic rosotto. Very small and uninspired dishes. Classic Aussie restaurant ‘fine dining’ meal where you then need to add overpriced basic sides to an already $38 main. For $48 for 3 small pieces of lamb with side mash potatoe at least cook it as sold and provide something of interest to accompany it. Seared Scallop entree was ok but nothing close to as described in West Cafe review (pineapple and peanuts - really?, I got corn!). That review read very suspiciously like a paid advertisement (particularly when the article refers to “we offer”). Left hungry, late and frustrated. At least the wine was fairly priced for the local grapes. After complaining and requesting my next glass be on the house this was accommodated. Service was adequate, friendly and made an effort where possible. All in all a perfect example of the laissez faire attitude to the all too common acceptance of overpriced and mediocre dining that...
Read moreI have just arrived home after taking my wife out for our 53rd wedding anniversary at the Muscat restaurant at the Vines. I hope others have a better experience than we did. I made the booking for 1.00 pm at Muscats and the lady saved a table for under my name. When we arrived , Muscat's was closed. We went to reception and was told that Muscat's hadn't been open for lunch for one and half years as if I should know that. The last time we went there it was open and we had a lovely lunch. I even repeated the booking to make sure i had the booking correct. After speaking to a lady who was courteous we accepted to stay at the Cafe and bar for lunch. Guess what? The kitchen put part of my order on my wife's dish. Hoping this is not an omen for 2025. Sorry but the apology came with a glass of cold water. Mind you, the water was most appreciated but I don't think we would make the 45 minutes drive again. I'm sure others have had a delightful experience and I'm...
