North Lake BBQ Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Western Australia

Edited on 7 Sept 2018: I had initially rated 5 stars & been there a few times which I felt they still deserve that rating. However recently when we went again, the food standard on that day really dropped as compared to my previous experiences.

Maybe it's just one of those days... Maybe it's because it was a Sat & indeed they were busy... Maybe they were a bit short-handed which is nearly always cos of the customer flow... but to me as a paying customer... none of the above should be a "valid" or acceptable reason for the poor food experience.

Worse of all, that day I brought my friends visiting from Singapore & singing high praises about the restaurant. But they failed quite utterly that day. The only food that delivered above average was the crispy beef. Even their well known duck was just average that day. Their 3 cup chicken is the worse as it's so saltish & we can't take a second bite!

Although the female boss apologise for the saltiness of the 3 cup chicken & explain the possible reason why this may happen (she even not charge us for that dish) which I must give her credit for good customer service... I can't in good faith & honesty put a good review here based on the food tasting experience.

I will probably refine the ratings in future if I revisit them. However I frankly don't foresee myself going back on my own accord unless some friends or relatives are hosting a dinner party there & I'm invited. (Sorry for the long comments/review) 😅

Original comments ~8 months ago: The food here served are all delicious & quantity is also quite big portioned. Their duck is a "must try". I wouldn't dare to say it's the best in Perth but you will not regret trying for sure.

It can be quite noisy cos they can be jam packed with customers, people like you and me. Hence it is understandable. Just don't expect to enjoy the nice food in total...

(24 Jan 2020) I am back here again for Chinese New year reunion dinner. I just felt that I have to add comments here again. I called to reserved the table somewhere in early January and Kitty said that she will text me the confirmation and menu. However, it took me a while to reply as I was away but she remembered my reservation and had been following up with me. A good service. On the actual day, the restaurant was super busy and Kitty again remember me when I told her who I was and the food is superb. But I want to come t again that nice food without positive customer experience does not mean anything. The service was excellent even though the restaurant was pack and everyone was super busy. This proof that my posting review about good service was correct and kudos to the owner for continuing to main the high quality of service and also the food.

This is a gem of a place! I live close by but have never tried it before today and I regret that! 😲

The portion sizes are huge and there are heaps of veggo options. The flavour of every dish we had was on point. A friend who was with, who normally likes to add salt, happily declared that salt was not needed as the flavour was awesome.

I loved that the veggies were fresh and crunchy! 🥦🥗🥕🥬

Great prices and very quick service. There can be at least 200 people seated at once! Massive!

There is a big lazy Susan on every table which makes for sharing dishes, fun and easy.

We even indulged in dessert. The deep fried ice cream has coconut on it which is nice. The red been pancakes are also very good. 🍦

All in all...a great experience! Will be back to try...
